It's at about 99% but there will be a payment to it on Monday which will take it to about 97.5%.

I applied for the BT over the phone, not online, and asked how much I could transfer. So the transfer amount was what the Santander rep said was ok, not an amount that I had specifically asked for. (I appreciate that this is Santander so normal rules don't necessarily apply......)

As I posted above though, I can't see anything in the T & C that prescribes a percentage of credit limit for BTs.

Now that you mention it I can't see it anywhere either but I knew I had seen it and it is in the " Balance Transfer" section of the Online Credit Card site where it says

"The amount to be transferred must be a minimum of £100 and the total amount of transferred balance may not exceed 95% of your credit limit. If the total transfer is above your available credit limit we may make a partial transfer. You should carry on making monthly repayments to your existing credit/store cards until the transfer appears on those account statements. You cannot transfer balances from other Santander Group accounts. You will be charged a handling fee for Balance Transfer transactions (unless we have told you otherwise) of 3%, minimum £5.

but it says that for both the cards I have so it might not apply to this Zero Card

Update on the BT % of credit limit. My payment of £100 was showing on the account this morning. I started the process of applying for a BT online and it would allow me to BT £100. On that basis it seems that it is possible to get within £50 of the credit limit, rather than a percentage being applied.
  • My husband applied for an A&L bank account so he could apply for the 0% Santander credit card. The same night as applying he received an email from A&L confirming acceptance of his application for the banks account and has received his debit card etc but no word on whether he had been succesful with the SAntander card application until last week when a pin number from Santander arrived (which was allegedly for his new credit card). I take it from this that his appication was succesful but he hasnt received a card, a letter accepting his application/detailing credit limit or any forms to sign. Just wondered if this has happened to anyone else? It seems odd to receive a pin number before an acceptance letter!
  • Hi All, I'm new to this forum so sorry if I am repeating something that has already been mentioned. But has anyone had their issue resolved with being charged 3% for BT when they were an existing customer?
I applied via my A&L account online for what I thought was a fee free card as I had accessed through my account. I actually received my agreement, sent it back and received my card & pin which now sounds like I was lucky reading other comments! I did receive a second agreement after I had received the card but I just ignored as admin error.
When I eventually received online log in details, I accessed the account and I realised they had charged BT fee. I rang them straight away to complain (about 2 weeks ago) and they said would call back within 7 days. I have heard nothing since. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie... hope you can help me with a question regarding my Santander Zero Credit card application.

I have applied and have been conditionally accepted. I now need to read the t&c, return a signed copy of the agreement and fill out a direct debit form. Problem is that the DD form ask for the credit card number... as I'm in the process of applying for it, I don't have a credit card number. What do I do? I don't like the idea of signing the form with that section of the form left blank and I'm worried that if I don't send the DD form, it'll delay things. I need my credit card to take on hol in May. What did everyone else do? Thanks

Hi Spinners, I was charged a fee but on producing proof of my a&l current account at a Santander branch, I had the fee credited back to my card the following month. The Santander staff at the branch were most helpful.

After trying and failing to actually manage to receive anything from 2 online applications, I opened one of these in the branch yesterday.

However the member of staff said that I could only transfer 95% of the balance that was on the card that I was transferring the balance from! I tried to say that I didn't think such a rule existing but in the end I couldn't be bothered arguing!

Has anyone else been told this interpretation of the 95% rule?! Maybe it's a new one?

Someone discussed this recently and when I looked at the T+C on the agreement it wasn't there but I knew I had seen it and it is on the online banking pages in " Balance Transfers" but I have two cards so it might only apply to the card that is NOT a Zero Fee Zero % one .

See my post #372 above, I have BT'd to within £50 of the credit limit. Try phoning.

Nope, this is nonsense :) The balance on the card you're transferring from is irrelevant - you spoke to a moron who didn't know what they were talking about - when you get the card phone them for a top-up BT :)
