I applied on 9th March online under my new address and whilst I was away (17-22) I received two conditional acceptance letters where I only have to sign and date the credit card agreement, but I also have to complete a direct debit from. But, the form asks for the credit card number which I obviously don't have yet. What am I supposed to do?
Hi, did you fill out the direct debit information online when you applied? I did and although I received the DD form in the post I did not send it back. I checked yesterday and although I haven't received credit card etc the direct debit has been set up on my A&L account.0 -

Just leave that part blank ....I can't remember how I gave the DD details whether I had done it online when I applied or if they sent me a DD form to complete ...weither way I wouldn't have had the card number .0 -
Update on my application dated 4th JANUARY 2010.
Pin number came today with, in a seperate envelope, a 4th set of agreements and a warning letter that they will cancel my application if not returned.
I rang the Complaints number and was told that they account was open and a transaction of £824 is showing on the statement but they cant tell me who they have paid this to until Ive got my card "for security reasons". I pointed out that for security reasons they ought to be able to tell me who theyve given my money to having satisfied them selves with questionning that I am who I say I am but no... no can do.
OK, seems trivial but the £824 weighs up to a BT of £800 plus £24 charges. Not bad except I applied for £4000.
Has it all been worth it ? Nope. Should have just stuck to my own banks offer. Less of a fee, less hassle and far far far faster !0 -

Well I received my pin number yesterday (no card yet though) and the balance transfer has just gone through. (only a 3rd of what I wanted to transfer but better than nothing I suppose)
The process wasn't too long actually after applying on the 4th March I think so 18 days or so for teh account to be opened and the BT to go through.0 -

Applied first week of Feb, nothing yet. Fortnight ago I just went for an MBNA Platinum instead, instant decision no more faffing around with Santander...Qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Insurers.
I used to work for a software house dealing with insurance quotations, so I know quite a lot about a few insurers!0 -
Sorry, feel like Ive made this a bit of a Bobbysox Credit Blog but just wanted to say that, out of the blue, Santander Complaints Team rang me yesterday to answer the questions I had raised about the credit showing on the account.
Amazing ! I go almost 3 months with nothing, contact the Ombudsman and then cant get rid of santander !!
OK... so my credit limit is £1400 so they couldnt explain why they only BT'd £800. They have now amended the BT to 95% of the credit limit. Still waaaay shorrt of what I need but a better result than I thought just 48 hours ago...0 -
Probably tempting fate here but things seem to be going ok with the card now. Did another BT yesterday (from Virgin where the 0% expires soon) and this took the overall amount to within £50 of my credit limit.0
