My wife has an A/L current account we have a joint A/L mortgage. If wife appies for the C/C can I move a balance (in my name) from Virgin CC, or must balance transfers be from account holders accounts only?

There are a few companies out there now that you can tick the terms and conditions box and signed box and all applications are sent back via online.
No postal delays all done in a matter of minutes.

Hi, I don't think it matters.
I too want to balance transfer from my husband's Virgin CC & have put the BT on the application form.

But it is easier for fraud to occur.

Hmmm, looks like I will have quite a wait on my hands.
I too made an online application via the Santander link here on MSE.
Applied on 2 march, and was surprised to only be given a reference number at the end of the online process. No contact numbers or email, or mention as to how they would contact me to inform me if I had been accepted/declined.
I have left my HalifaxCC transfer to the last minute, and this delay will cost me. Drat.

Can anyone tell me, how do Santander contact you? Email? Snail Mail?
Anyone had a better time frame of acceptance than 4 weeks?
How soon would they do the balance transfer for me? (all being well that is).

I know, so many questions, and so little wine to ponder them over

According to the page I printed out I applied on the 19 Jan .I got told the T+C were posted to me on the 22 Jan ( but that only means they were processed ). I got them on the 11 Feb and returned them the same day . The card was sent ( neaning processed) on the 16th Feb and I got it last Wednesday 3 March so you can see how long it takes .As I said elsewhere I also got a second set of T+C as they said the original ones had not been sent back by me ( even tho they had ) so I ignored that .
Tel numbers to use are 0845 603 9820 and you can also try 0800 389 9905. You don't need the reference number for your application ..just your own details . Ifyou don't phone them then the first you will hear is the letter with the T+C to sign .( unless you are rejected in which case I guess they will send a letter) .

I have received my card and transferred balances from two of my husbands cards to my santander card without any problems.

    Hi Molley,
Thanks for the detailed reply and phone numbers. I will try them today to see where I am at in the process.
I did call an 0871 number on Sunday evening (5pm) - spoke to an Indian call centre that took 25 minuts to tell me I am not on their system... so I am grateful for some different phone numbers!

    All the best

My experiences reflect others..a complete shambles from Santander.

Applied for two cards at the end of January online, one for me and the wife, about a week apart. We are both existing A&L customers.

Took three weeks for the wife's paperwork to arrive. Signed and returned mid-Feb. No sign of my paperwork (and I applied a week before my wife!)

Another set of paperwork arrived claiming the card was ready but they needed proof of ID (nothing about this in the first set of paperwork!) HOWEVER on the same day the card arrived in a separate letter!

A few days later my paperwork arrived stating "we wrote to you a while ago..." ...erm..no you didn't! So mine was signed and returned.

A few days later I get another letter asking why I'd not returned the forms!

Their admin is truely shocking. I'm now fully expecting to be charged a BT fee when I shouldn't have been being existing A&L customers which will no doubt involve lots of phone calls to different departments etc.

    Regards

    Neil
