card and pin arrived today but only £1500 limit. Is it worth calling for a raise? Not worth transferring otherwise as I think Ive about £1700 to transfer

Normally you do not get an immediate raise and with Santander I would not even bother talking with someone.

If you are eligible for fee-free transfer then that combined with add 12 months offer could be a slightly better deal.

Although I'm better off than many in this process I have yet another example of the magnificence of Santander.

I applied online, received and returned the acceptance letter, received Pin, received card, phoned to apply for Balance Transfers, BTs successfully paid on other cards.

Today I have received a letter telling me they haven't received the signed Agreement etc. so haven't been able to issue the card. They also need to verify my identity, which they didn't first time.

I don't think I'll bother phoning to point out the error of their ways, might just make their head explode.
Exactly the same thing has happened to me!

Not sure whether to bother ringing them or not... I'd done well uo to now - got the card and pin (the day before), and balance transfers gone through.

Same thing happened to me today, I did phone and was told to destroy paperwork as it had been sent out again by mistake, and as I already had received the card, pin etc they did not need the agreement or Id verified.

All these experiences incl my own appear to suggest that Santander is an absolute shambles

Would suggest keeping your head down.

Would you flamin' believe this . After phoning Santander yesterday to ask why I got my PIN Number a week ago at least but no card and being told the card and PIN had been sent out more or less at the same time and to wait until this coming Saturday what do I get this morning but a letter saying they havent received my signed documentation that they sent to me recently and enclosing copies BUT are also asking for evidence of my ID ..well they didn't ask for this the first time and as they have sent me the PIN they clearly did get the forms and if they hadn't got them why wouldn't the guy I spoke to yesterday have mentioned this .

As I and others have said Santander are a shambles .

I applied through the A&L site because I have a current account there
I have just activated my card.
I'd already arranged for 1 BT on my application but thought I'd do another.
After a while on the phone thay daid that would be fine with a 3% BT fee. I said NO, I was expecting a 0% BT because I applied as an A&L customer.

They then looked and said I had been charged 3% on my first BT.

I said that this was not correct as A&L current account customers applying should get 12 months BT at a rate of 0% with 0% BT fee.

They took my number and will be ringing me back...

It gets better. Trying to get onto the online credit card servicing. Received the security code but can't get past putting the card number in. Tells me I have now logged off. Is this the worst bank in the world?
  • If not the worst then it definitely is a dismal bank. Definitely the worst bank I have dealt with.

I'm still waiting for the online details. Shame that when you open an account online, they don't make the obvious logical step of asking you at this stage whether you want them to set up online access. Doh.

MBNA (for example) don't need all sorts of nonsense to set up online access - you can do it from the new card details and other details you already know, such as DOB.
