Just as well there is no BT Fee involved otherwise that might have caused another problem . Be interesting to hear why they stopped the transfer
The cancellation of the BT was reversed later yesterday and so the BT should reach its destination in due course.0 -
Congrats on sorting that out MarkyMarkD.
I'm still waiting for a response from them. Sent off the appeal letter on the 8th. Not heard anything. It's a bit of a pain really as this month my Lloyds card (that I wanted to transfer the balance of) has decided to hike up the interest. I wasn't paying attention and it seems several months ago rather than the usual gaff they have written on the statements they wrote "we will be increasing your interest charges from 2nd Feb". My fault for not paying attention...Total debt at lightbulb moment (Jan 2010): £23410
Target for Dec 2011: £17000
Lloyds - Early Jan: £[STRIKE]2040[/STRIKE] Feb: £[STRIKE]2050[/STRIKE] Mar: £0
Other Lloyds @ highest: £9800 Feb: £9800
Current debt: £234200 -
Hi everyone,
I wish I'd have read this thread before yesterday! I applied online some time in Jan and didn't get an accept/decline straightaway (they only tell you at the time of app if you do it over the phone) but then got a letter with a 'warm welcome to the Sandander Credit Card' requesting me to sign a credit agreement and post it back in the freepost envelope, which I did the very next day. I waited about a month, expecting my new card any day, and then got a letter on Friday (dated the 11th Feb so over a week later) saying that they were 'unable to proceed' with the application!
So then I spoke to about 10 different people (kept getting put through to 3 different teams and a different person each time and once I even got the MBNA number to call!!) and it turns out that they never received my signed form (does anyone ever get proof of posting a freepost envelope?!) so they abandoned my application! Also, nowhere on the letter does it say that you only have 2 weeks to send the forms back before they abandon your application...
The only way to get it back from 'abandon' stage is to do another application. This went on for another hour or so of telling them that it wouldn't be fair to score my credit rating after only 3 weeks (nothing has changed, i haven't even been paid since and I've not made any payments or even been to the cash point in that time) but I eventually gave in (seemed like the easiest route at the time) and went through the whole application process again...And after 10 minutes of giving all the same details again, it came back as declined!
How frustrating. I've always had a great credit rating (was 999 when I checked Experian last September!) and they had already approved my application.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's had !!!! customer service! You'd think they'd want to make it as easy as possible for their existing customers.
Anyone think it's worth trying to apply for any other deals atm (my current 0% deal runs out in March)? Just that I'm imagining that black mark against my name... Arghh. Even more frustrating because I didn't take up a low-rate life-of-balance deal that Virgin offered me because Santander had accepted my application.
Does anyone know the best route for writing a complaint to them? I can't imagine that department is any good either...0 -
I applied online also, on 29th Jan, and received a letter dated 09/02 on 15th Feb acknowledging receipt. Called today and was informed of 'provisional acceptance' letter sent out on 15/02. So should expect to get agreement to sign early next week. (I think you just take any guideline 'Sabbeytander' uses and double that figure...)
Make sure you return it recorded delivery!0 -

I had a similar experience in that I got through to someone at MBNA. I finally got through to someone based in the U.K and expressed my frustration since I had spent 10 minutes trying to get through (I called 0845 602 1582 and chose option, got through to outsourcer, put back to option, got through to outsourcer, then MBNA). I was told 2 wks ago that the monies due to me, following my schoolboy error in overpaying on my credit card bill, would be in my bank account. Needless to say, no transfer was made.
I'm in the process of writing a complaint and sending to:
Customer Complaints,
Santander Credit Cards,
Santander House,
201 Grafton Gate East,
Milton Keynes,
MK9 1AN.
Basically, this used to the same address for Abbey National but it's now Santander House instead of Abbey House!

About 10-14 days for the card to arrive. I also applied for a balance transfer online but when I phoned to make another after the card arrived there was no record of the online BT application so had to go through it all again.0 -
Thanks Fairzo - don't think they are getting any marks for customer service. :beer:0
