I think Miss J is misreading the forms, as others have already done.

It says that the minimum payment is the interest plus the PPI, or something like that.

That doesn't mean that you have opted for PPI, or that it's charged by default. It just means that your minimum payment has to include any PPI that's due, if and only if you've opted for it.

I'm thinking of doing the same with my Egg card. Will i just be charged their standard BT rate to do this or will it be treated as a cash advance?

If you have a zero balance on your Egg card like me and you make a balance transfer to the Santander card you will be in credit by that amount on your Egg card when the money arrives from Santander.

So when you request a balance transfer from Egg to your current account their is no balance transfer charge. On the Egg site this is treated as a balance transfer.

The total process of moving the money from Santander to your current account will take about 2 weeks depending on how fast the money is sent from Santander to Egg, a balance transfer to your current account from Egg takes 3 working days.

So despite the many posts that suggest I shouldnt bother, I think I am going to apply for this. I may regret this decision!!!

Anyway, can anyone help me with the following questions?

I have just opened the Alliance and Leicster bank account and have switched my direct debits to it (hoping but not expecting to get the £100). I have recived the letter listing the direct debits they will transfer, which is amazingly correct. Should I wait until I have actually paid money into the account and the first lot of direct debits have come out before applying for the credit card? Will it make any difference since either way I am an "exsisting customer"?

Next when I make the application (think I will do a phone application) would I be better to ask for them to do an automatic balance transfer? (I have an existing RBS credit card with a limit of £4000 and a balance of £3500, I want to get a balance transfer of £3000 as I should managed to pay £500 off RBS in a couple weeks anyway).

Or should I just ask for the card, wait and see what limit I am given and THEN request the balance transfer? Is either better or will the 2nd way potentially mean I wont get the 0% transfer fee?

    Thanks!

Yes you can apply as an existing customer.

You will be asked if you plan to make a BT and just say yes and tell them the amount you are looking for...

You will be eligible for 0% fee either way

Applied and waited about 2wks. Paperwork came through and sent back same day. No sign of card and no BT in Egg - think I should call?

I have got a Asda card that is apparently Santander.

I'm thinking of applying for this credit card, but was just wondering whether anyone know whether you are able to balance transfer a few times during the 12 months?

I'm new to the balance transfer thing! I've got two credit cards which I would like to balance transfer, but I would like to transfer the balance of one of them over in a few months time when the 0% purchase offer ends on it - would this be possible?

It all depends on their T&C, but most lenders will allow you to transfer balance within 60 to 90 days of opening account.
