  • Spoke to Santander again. It seems that it is all down to the electoral roll, which seems a bit ridiculous. I have to wait for the council to get back to me, before I can send off the appeal, with proof that I am on the electoral roll. This was all done in branch at the A&L. Absolute nightmare so far.

Same here (and i've lost it too)....

If you 'phone them they won't ask for the reference number and if you offer it they decline ..they say it's easier to trace your appl'n by name ,D of B ,address etc

Ho ho - that didn't work when I asked them to trace my original application five months ago. They couldn't trace it under any sort of details.
  • The conditional acceptance letter I received helpfully gave me a number to call in case of queries about my application:

So I called it. The automated voice asked for my credit card number :rotfl:

Santander needs a good management consultancy with expertise in process improvement methinks.

i have recieved the acceptance paperwork today to sign. just need to sign it and the DD even though when i phoned a couple of weeks ago i was told i was getting a letter asking for more info....anyway....

i am in two minds whether to even bother after all the stories about Santander, i am only going to stooze it anyway.

i cant see anything on my paperwork that mentions a BT fee so i guess im ok on that bit but does anyone know about PPI on this card?

there was nothing to opt in/out on the online application and theres not even mention of PPI on my paperwork other that:

min payments higher amount of 2.25% of balance or £5.00 or total amount of PPI plus interest plus £5.00.

again when i rang 2 weeks ago asking about the application i mentioned PPI and lack of clarity and the guy said (guessed i think) that PPI was standard and i should OPT OUT.

what are other peoples experience of PPI on this card?
  • The PPI was the reason for my phone call above.

When I managed to speak to someone they told me they operate an opt in system, so I will not be charged for PPI as it was not mentioned anywhere on the original online application or the acceptance letter. But I know what you mean, I don't feel 100% confident this advice is correct!

(Please dont take this the wrong way but....)

I'm glad i'm not the only one waiting for this letter in the post :o applied 12 Jan, approved 13 Jan, still no letter to sign/enclose docs/whatever. I rang today, "Card Services" said to ring the main Santander. Santander gives an automated message saying look at the website for application tracking. I did that, ring a different number and who do I get? "Card Services"

At least my worries about stuff being lost in the post have been calmed a tad by reading this thread, thanks guys :T
  • I am tempted not to bother with my appeal on this..

  • I am looking to buy a car and have been thinking about putting 2k on my egg credit card (currently no balance as I pay it off each month) and then transfering this to a santander card, to in effect give me a years intrest free loan (I am assuming I will pay it off at the end).

I have had a look at the santander application on line and if I specify I want a balance transfer it prompts me for the amount and card details. I do not have a balance to transfer currently and I do not want to put it on my egg card now only to find I cant get a santander card or it takes ages to process.

Can I apply for a santander card, then when I find out I have got it, put the 2k on my egg card and transfer it over (so my application will say no balance transfer)? Or do I have to have the balance on my egg card at application time?

Any advice appreciated, I am a bit new to this.

Well I hope that's the way it works ...Just like every other card I have applied for and got ...as I said I didn't want a BT as I didn't have the info at hand .
