Can't see any other reason. Either way I have still not received the refusal letter that was supposedly sent out 10 days ago! Maybe I'll get something tomorrow. Maybe not.Total debt at lightbulb moment (Jan 2010): £23410

An update for those wondering how long it takes to get this card:
I received conditional acceptance papers for signature 16 days after I applied online. No indication yet of a credit limit and no card as yet but I should get this soon hopefully. Will update when I get the card to give people an idea of the application to "card-in-hand" time.0 -
Finally received the refusal letter. They state "We've reviewed your application and unfortunately we're unable to offer you a Credit Card at this time" and "On this occasion, your application did not meet our minimum requirements"!
I plan to appeal but does anyone have any idea what the minimum requirements are? My credit score is great on both experian and equifax. I never miss payments to any of my cards. I always pay on time (mostly overpaying on each card) and always meet all my payments for everything else, including council tax etc.
I've only once gone overcredit on a card but that was a long time ago, and that was mainly due to them hiking interest rates and not informing me.
I am not in arrears with any bills, if anything I am at least a month ahead.
Any help would be appreciated.Total debt at lightbulb moment (Jan 2010): £23410

I would say they refused you for all the reasons above... you wont be making them any money - youre just far too good :mad:0 -
Nationwide (their Gold card) offers a 13 month o% BT at the moment and 3 months o% purchase.
Got an instant decision online, good service with the paperwork and it wasn't a worry to them that we are not in employment, and are on private pensions and disability benefits.

I wish I was! I wouldn't have all this debt if I was! Sooner I move some of this to 0% or low LOTB the better.Total debt at lightbulb moment (Jan 2010): £23410

Just a warning based on nightmare I am going through to claim back 3% BT fee charged by Santander even though I have an Alliance and Leicester current account.
I initially rang up Santander to open an account on the phone but was told it would be easier to do this in branch 'at any Santander branch' I had already asked about my eligibility for 0% balance transfer fee as I had an A&L current account and was told I'd be eligible.
I then went into my local Santander branch, which was formerly the Abbey National and was successful in my application for the zero credit card, having again asked both the manager and the assistant who opened my account to confirm I would not be charged anything for a balance transfer to my MBNA card. I actually want to balance to 2 cards but the assistant only arrange the BT for one and manager suggested I then call up once I'd got my card to arrange for the other one and to check the one done in branch had been set up.
When I got my card I rang to verify receipt of it and discovered I'd been charged 3% for the BT which was set up when I applied for the card in branch. On enquiry further on the phone I was told I'd need to go back to the Santander branch I'd opened the account in to rectify the mistake.
The branch staff now don't appear to know anything about the 0% bank transfer and on ringing up in my presence to Santander staff it now transpires that I should have opened the credit card in a Santander branch which was formerly an Alliance & Leicester branch and not an Abbey National branch!! This is despite fact the Santander website says absolutely nothing at all about having to open account in a different branch to 'any Santander branch' whcih they quote on the website. Neither was I told this when I called up to originally apply on the phone, nor told by branch staff when I opened the card account. Telephone staff said they can't help me or refund my £60 as it was an in-branch mistake and I didn't open the right credit card account????!
So it now transpires I have the 'wrong' Santander zero credit card in that it relates to my opening it at a former Abbey National branch opening and not A&L where I would have got the 0% ??
Am I in a Franz Kafka novel or alternative universe???
My complaint is in with the branch manager and I'll be interested to see if this can be swiftly sorted out....0 -

I applied for mine on the 19th January and last week was told the appl'n had been approved and the forms posted on the 22nd January ...well not actually posted it seems ...I again called today on the 0845 number and the girl I first spoke to couldnt tell me anyhting as her teminal kept crashing so she put me through to a colleague who also could tell me no more but gave me an 0800 number to call. This was an unobtainable number so i had to call back and got another 0800 number but it was automated and referred me to the Santander Help pages where I found another 0845 number ( in the UK) and the girl confirmed that the system says the forms were sent out on the 22 January but it doesn't really mean that so I should get them in the next couple of days hopefully .
Going by the 16 Days quoted above by lifebegins it's likely to be the w/end before I get the forms.
I have a few other cards and none of the appl'ns were such a mess..When I suggested to the last girl I spoke to that the Santander system was a shambles she sort of agreed but probably didn't want to say too much .0
