They should never have been spending all that time together and allowed themselves to get in the situation of spending the night together!
Surely when you split from someone you see the kids not the ex!

You pick the kids up and drop them home etc!
you have separate lives etc? your only interest is the kids?
Just cos they have children together why do they have to spend time together odd!

just an update - my b/f is coming round after i have finished work and i suspect he is going to end it with me. im at work now and im in such a state

Don't panic, you don't know what's going to happen yet.

He may just be coming to apologise, he may be coming to tell you about the messages between him and his wife, or calling just because he wants to see you!

It was Christmas and they were spending time together for the sake of the children as they are only 8

It wasn't for the children, seems like an excuse, or if it was for the children, it's not fair what they planned. (IMO anyway)

Mummy and Daddy aren't together, then Daddy comes home for Christmas, woohoooooo! Oh, Christmas is over and Daddy is going again. That's not nice for little ones, they need consistancy, not people messing with their heads.

All he had to do was go on Christmas Eve and go home, then go back first thing Christmas morning. Then again on Boxing day if he wished.

None of that matters though, what's done is done, but your view is terribly blinkered by your love for this man.

Nope - have a sick feeling of doom in the pit of my stomach about this one

    Just mentally prepare.

There's really nothing you can do to make it easier.

However, you can start planning a brand New Year with things to look forward to. Re-evaluate your life and start making changes. It's not the end, its a new beginning.

Hope it all goes well and you could well be wrong but it needs sorting one way or the other x
