Our postman has a fob to get into the front door of our apartments, that way he doesn't have to buzz anyone. He also knows the code for the post room. The fob is kept at the sorting office and whoever is doing the round gets them to let them into all the apartment blocks in the city centre.

But isn't because of inept management. Don't blame the posties for this one. At a guess, the postie left the key with management before going off on hols or something, and the management lost it. Happens all the time in our office. Ofc it could have been the postie, and no doubt if you spoke to the manager it would be the postie. They are good at passing the buck.

It seems Storck doesn't have this problem.

I certainly do have issues with the fact that keys go missing all the time, as you claim, this is a security issue

I'll just keep this in mind if ever we have any robberies in the future.

And to add to my previous post, I am not blaming the posties on this one but there is no doubt in my mind that there are good posties and bad ones, like in most situations.

It is one of life's annoyances but not the end of the world.

My postman is very good on the whole,a couple of occasions his system has got messed up and he has put all post in the wrong houses. Ours at number 92 went to number 90, we got number 94's etc etc. However, he is friendly and he knocks and waits for us to answer the door for parcels.

However, I do have some issues with Royal Mail. Three parcels I ordered have simply not arrived, despite Play, Zavvi and Game all confirming they were sent. I have logged this with all the companies and am sure the amounts will be refunded. However, I certainly don't want Royal Mail to think I am up to something if they receive claims from these three companies regarding undelivered mail!!

Ian I too am waiting on one parcel coming from play that they said they have dispatched. Hasn't arrived at delivery office yet. PITA as it was a little extra pressie for my daughter. Not too concerned about it though with the amount of holidays there's been in the past 2 weeks, it does cause delays.

i read this thread with interest - weve all got our opinions on RM.......but lets face it, as a nation, we all like to complain as much as we can. The poor guys at RM get the brunt of the nations anger for the actions of a few.....

My postman is fine - dont see him too much as im usually at work, altho i do have a lot of parcels delivered for my job. If im not around, the postie gives them to next door - i never initiated this, but i think my neighbour came out once and he remembered so knocks on next door now if im not in. In my opinion - hes worth his weight in gold!! Thats why he got an xmas pressie this yr. I was grateful.

On the other hand, my OH had an appalling postie at his last house - notes posted through without even knocking on the door, parcels delivered damaged and soaking wet, parcels left outside the front door in the pouring rain (on a terraced street!!) - you name it, it was done! Not surprisingly, OH caught him on a couple of occasions and gave him what for. Didnt stop him though. Luckily hes now moved and doesnt have this problem.

As with everything - we can all complain about the service that is given by any company. RM, the local council, BT, etc etc but its the minority that make it bad..... I find it surprising that so many people complain about so much yet dont feel a need to reward when they are happy with the service they get. I learnt long ago that a tip every xmas and sometimes a couple of times throughout the year means that my wheeley bins get put back at the bottom of my drive and my postie will leave all parcels next door rather than me have to go and collect them!
