not really custardly. What's to stop the post offices keeping pouches separate. Then the collection drivers returning them to the office? I know it wouldn't work in all instances, but it's gotta be better than it is now.

I certainly wouldn't suggest that a walking postie takes his packets back, duties are over long as it is. There just has to be an alternative to this time wasting palaver

i raised that around 3 years ago.nobody in RM are interested in any idea unless it cuts staff/saves money
you wont have 'walking' posties soon when park & loop goes national
  • my personal favourite was 'we tried to deliver your parcel at 10:45am but you werent in

before hollywood, I gotta admit, I do that too, I can't wear a watch because of skin allergies. And if I forget my phone that day, I guestimate the time. Which is all good when you are on a duty that you know well, but when you're on one that you don't know, all sense of time goes out the window tbh. Sounds like the poor guy thought it was only 10:45, bet he was working late that day :rotfl:

About the whole 'they buzz to be let in' moan i don't mind if the postie has to ring my buzzer to get in if the service button isn't working. they are just trying to do a job and i can't say i've had any problem with the posties here. i let them in.. heck i've even went to the main door to let him in infact my fiance did that the other day when he saw the postie couldn't get in

Some people are soo MOANY that it annoys me more than the problem they are actually moaning about!

Our postman has a fob to get into the front door of our apartments, that way he doesn't have to buzz anyone. He also knows the code for the post room. The fob is kept at the sorting office and whoever is doing the round gets them to let them into all the apartment blocks in the city centre.

  • Let`s face it since Alan Late-on and Adam Dozier took over the Royal Mail the system has got far worse!
The biggest mistake was going to a single delivery and allowing Posties to do Job and Knock.
In the old system Packets and signed for items that couldn`t be delivered where dropped straight back at the depot inbetween rounds, a form left card was left which in our office said 24 hours but many times people could turn up in the late afternoon and get their item the same day,now alot of posties don`t have to return to the office it hardly makes it attractive to be having to carry undelivered items to the `local` (good luck with that as they`ve shut half of them)Post Office or return to the depot when you can leave them on the doorstep or just shove a recorded delivery through instead of getting it signed, that way they get to go home quicker,it`s wrong but thats what happends and these clowns encouraged this way of working to `save money.`

Ah but you see, we don't have a service button...we have a key! So if they buzz and there is nobody in to let them in it's ok not to get your post?

We do let them in when we have to but yes, to be honest it is a pain, especially when you supply them with a key, but if they lose that key it is our security at risk so when they stop using that key it gets you thinking...!

I could be a moany b***h but actually seeing that these issues have been going on for the past 12 years I don't think I am...just because I dare to mention it on this forum...

But isn't because of inept management. Don't blame the posties for this one. At a guess, the postie left the key with management before going off on hols or something, and the management lost it. Happens all the time in our office. Ofc it could have been the postie, and no doubt if you spoke to the manager it would be the postie. They are good at passing the buck.
