Has anyone complained to Royal Mail?

  • OK, I now need help: My local office are useless dealing with complaints; does anyone have an email address I can escalate to? The postman threw our parcels over the wall, in a dodgy area where there is a lot of theft. My new hard drive is cold and damp and not working, and the free lightbulbs from Scottish Power are all smashed, and that's just MY parcels. I've had enough...thanks in advance.

    oO

Who have you spoken to at local level? The first person you get to when you call up or have you asked to speak to the manager?

First port of call should be to put complaints like this in writing, which can be done by contacting the customers services team (which can be done by phone too and they will write to the office manager electronically, so always a report to answer to)

Door Stepping of parcels is not allowed unless you have a prior safe place agreement with the delivery office manager (or throwing them over the garden wall). With the exception of the free light bulbs which state to leave them in a safe place.

Edit: In answer to your question, go to https://www.royalmail.com at the bottom of the page you will find a contact us button. From there you can email complaints

  • Thanks for the reply; I have been to see the manager in person before, as I said in an earlier post; won't elaborate too much here again to save boring everyone else but the postie basically never rings the bell, even when we're all there, and often dumps SD/Signed for items in the communal (shared between 40 people) mailbox sans signature and YES things get stolen at times (I mean I think by other residents, not the postie) but this morning was the final straw. I didn't spend £60 on a HD for you to throw it over my gate and leave it in the cold, you lazy oaf!! Also more than once, when I've been at the door when he's left "Sorry you were out" cards I went out to him to get my parcel from him and he admitted it isn't even on him, he left it at the office as he didn't want to carry too much.

I think what you need to do here is contact the customer service team in writing.
This shouldn't be happening. Unfortunately in some places it still does.
It would also help if you have had items delivered that should be signed for that are just left to take a note of the numbers to give yourself as much evidence as possible that this is happening.

You could also tell the supplier of the HDD that it's not working. They would then have the claim with Royal Mail. Not ideal but the best I can offer for this. After all they have the contract with RM to get your item to you. If you see where I'm coming from.

Is this for a flat or for specific named people at a flat? It's suddenly occured to me maybe the previous tenant had such an arrangement and that's why we sometimes get parcels left in our building when I'd much prefer to rearrange delivery.

    [Not a dig, genuine question!]

Call up the delivery office and make sure that no parcels are left in a safe place for you, explain that you would rather pick them up.

To add to this, RM have a key to let themselves in to our block which they forget on many occasions and buzz residents to get access (normally on a Saturday when we want a lie in) and have even lost the keys in the past.

    Dipsticks the lot of them!

Doesnt come across as lazy or dipsticks to me:confused:
  • Thanks Mazza; for some reason, I hadn't thought of writing down the numbers of the dumped DS/signed for letters; I will do this from now on. I am going to contact the company I bought the HD from (Via Amazon) as it won't work on either of my computers (and yes, I've read the manual and actually have another one of these HDs already). You've been really helpful. I'll keep you posted (pun sort of intended).

Tbh I don't order online as much as I used to (unless I have to), to avoid the hassles delivery companies give you...and I am not only referring to RM.
