TBH Jomo neither do I. Unless it's being delivered by RM. Then I can pick it up at work :rotfl:
The only problem with that is that it can cause red faces. Once ordered some Cosmetics from wetnwild.co.uk. Only for it to arrive with Wet n Wild printed over the envelope. The speculation was rife as to what was in the packet. I had to eventually open it in the office to prove it wasn't anything rude4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

we had a package from gold group (white envelope with red writing, you will see them ) where the um contents had burst through.
so we had to wrap it in the clear damaged bags
the girl collecting the item was rather sheepish when she collected it
gold group is for the Ann summers naughty stuff0 -
Yes we've had a few of those ones burst open. The lads get a good laff passing them thru the office:p4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Well, my item didn't turn up. I waited in all day for it because the RM website said that it could arrive any time between 7am and 6pm. I cannot ring to complain because the customer service line is now closed.
Thanks a lot, Royal Mail.
I will update when I've decided what steps I'm going to take to get this situation rectified.0 -
Crispsandwich, which part of the country do u live in?
No post in Scotland today as we got an extra day holiday today. The other countries in the UK get one of the bank holidays that we don't get. That's why I'm asking.
What day was it that you received your card? It's always interesting to see how long things take to be returned from the mail centres. When they are on holiday, it takes forever to get packets back to delivery offices
Just seen that it was the 31/12 that you posted, therefore I can't see your packet being back in the office in time to be able to be delivered today. Shouldn't have been told it could have been redelivered until it was safe to assume it was back in delivery office.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
mazza111,
Thanks for the reply. I live in South Yorkshire. I was told by a Customer Service Assistant on the telephone that it would be redelivered today. She gave me a redelivery reference number. I couldn't arrange a redelivery myself as the serial number on the 739 card was illegible.
The problem I now have is that I cannot collect the item for at least a week due to my working hours. It is not a 'signed for' item so I can assume it will be kept at the RM collection point for three weeks. I anticipate that I will end up collecting it myself early one morning within the next three weeks.
I'm going to complain again by telephone and in writing. I want to find out why we keep getting 739 cards through our letterbox when people are in.
It wouldn't be so much of a problem if there wasn't a 48-hour wait to collect items.0 -

There's no excuse for this whatsoever, on occasion it may be that the resident could not hear the bell or whatever but I know this wasn't the case on the occasions it has happened to me.0 -
crispsandwich I despise the way that RM works. It's so bloody stupid.
I'll give you an example of how things can work out in our office.
Postie doesn't get someone in to deliver his packet on a Monday morning. He takes any packets to post office to be "pouched off". This pouch then goes to Glasgow. Then it's returned to us.
In the meantime. Mr. Smith has arrived home to a red card through the door so calls Customer Services to arrange a redelivery for Wednesday. That's fine say customer services. And promise the customer the earth.
Meantime at local level, the guy looks at his computer screen and thinks, oh great, CS have done it again, that packet isn't back on time to go out for delivery on Wed. So waits til last possible moment to hope that packet is back in office to go out on time.
Customer Service doesn't seem to take into consideration, local holidays or local weather conditions.
PS: An unsigned item wouldn't have an item number. So it's probably the postman's duty number or signature that's scrawled there.
Am not making excuses here. I'm pretty sure there has gotta be a more efficient way of collecting these packets back into the local offices.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

there is,its called everyone returning to the office every day
however time spent going back isnt time spent on delivery
so you would need more delivery staff with shorter deliveries
we know that isnt going to happen............0 -
not really custardly. What's to stop the post offices keeping pouches separate. Then the collection drivers returning them to the office? I know it wouldn't work in all instances, but it's gotta be better than it is now.
I certainly wouldn't suggest that a walking postie takes his packets back, duties are over long as it is. There just has to be an alternative to this time wasting palaver4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
