I think whats probably happened - and this is just a guess - is that there has been no proper system in place for keeping a record of which orders have been despatched and when, hence there being no delivery note in the packages. I think due to being inundated with orders "Sally and her team" probably had a pile of name and address labels for customers and a pile of knitted characters to be sent, but no proper record of when the orders were placed, or which ones should be prioritised. So it was just down to luck as to whether or not they would arrive in time for Christmas.
This would certainly explain how someone who ordered 6 days after I did, and paid by the same method as me, received their knitted character on Christmas Eve - yet mine was not even posted until New Years Eve. And then why I was given a refund on New Years Day for non-delivery when my knitted character had actually only been posted on the previous day.
Its a bit off for the company to be blaming the mail and weather for non delivery of items they haven't even posted though!

Send them an Email and DEMAND a refund. I did just that about 30 minutes ago, and threatened to take them to trading standards, I've just recieved a reply 5 minutes ago saying:
Dear ********** l, I am sorry that we have not responded to your messages so far we have been very busy trying to get the second batch or orders ready for dispatch. I see you ordered your knitted character after 10th December which was the last date for the item to be sent before Christmas. After the 10th orders were to be dispatched in the week commencing 04/01/10 Your Order was dispatched to you yesterday first class. unfortunately Royal Mail are having a very hard time getting all post delivered in time.
I hope this is a satisfactory explanation, if you still feel you would like a refund when you receive the knitted character please post him back to
Warwick Hall
Off Banastre Avenue
Cardiff

and we will issue an immediate refund.
All the best
Jenn
-Also remember if you have paid with a credit card though google checkout then you are insured with your credit card company, as I was told earlier on the phone. Good Luck! I plan on sending mine back recorded delivery and getting a full refund anyway!0 -

Missing Item/s in Postal System
It costs 75p extra to track a 1st or 2nd class item, this is called recorded delivery and the basic form of tracked postage the royal mail offers.
Maybe i suggest that if you want this, then you could offer to pay the extra, knowing exactly where your item is.
Regards,
Alias0 -
I guess the severe weather will provide another excuse to Sallly and her Loyal Fawning Fan to provide further excuses. It looks like apart from Sally, everyone else is at fault=The customers who are jealous rivals,Paypal,Royal Mail.Sally is the epitome of perfection.Not.No knitted character and no refund as yet.0

i paid £2.99 for the KC to be delivered, this was promised to be sent via next day signed for packet post, i have the email from them comfrming this, so has a lot of people writing on this thread. but still no KC, most people are saying it was sent normal first class at a cost of about £1.30, that is not what was promised on their website or their emails to me.0 -
Many people paid nearly £5 for postage, no reason they should have to pay extra for a trackable delivery method.0

I think you could be right here Helen, it seems there was no system to which ones were posted or not. Hence it was largely hit or miss. Perhaps certain paying methods were given priority over others? Who knows.
EDIT: Actually, Helen disproves this theory so scrub that. It's obviously far less systematic.
If this were the case then it would be poor show on BMG Burp's part because when a seller accepts a number of payment options they should not favour one (or, if they do at least make it explicit then buyers can choose).
Whatever the reason, they still took the money and promised Christmas delivery.
At the end of the day it shouldn't be up to us to speculate or try to figure it out, we should know, BMG Burp should have been honest and told us exactly what has been going on.0
