  • Thanks all for your replies - would have done something with a chocolate sponge but no chocolate in the cupboard !!

I ended up making a sponge mixture, and doing a variation on the suggested upside down pudding.

I greased a bowl with butter, spread a little golden syrup on the bottom, covered with flaked almonds then the pears and sponge.

    LUSH !!!!!

As the title suggests we have a wheelbarrow full of pears that need something doing with them!
They are hard at the moment but will be soft in a few days. I have a dehydrator and am capable of making jam and wine but has anyone got any tried and tested recipes that they can recommend for something different?
    Many thanks!!

    This one

And it freezes really well. As do poached pears, either in red wine, or in coffee and cinnamon.

Pear Tarte Tatin is lovely- and can freeze well!

This one looks delish (made with pears instead of apples):

Am envious of your barrow of pears, what a treat!

My inlaws have just moved to a new house which has a couple of pear trees in the garden. The trees are laden with fruit and I have been given quite a lot of pears. The fruit are quite hard so not really too nice to eat them as they are so I am looking for inspiration as to what to do with lots of pears.

    Thank you

Add some into the apple curd recipe. (Maybe even make pear curd). I don't have the link to the recipe at the moment but it's from one of weezl's threads

  • I used some hard pears this week to make a pear crumble.
