I have a fab recipe from a schwartz cinnamon box for apple and cinnamon cake
Then there is puds like crumbles, could be done with either apples or pears
The microwave sponge pud in the index can be made with the addition of fruit
Edited to add the cake recipe is on the schwartz website here: http://www.schwartz.co.uk/recipedetail.cfm?ID=1123
I usually omit the walnuts and the cream cheese icing0 -
I made a fruit cobbler yesterday with some ripe pears. It was lovely with custard. The recipe is here:

Crumble or pie is nice as well.0 -
somerset pork and apple ( a style of casserole, have no idea of the recipe) was lovely, and used ordinary apples rather than cooking apples. then were so sweet that they just melted in the mouth, so im sure pear would be similar (if you're feeling experimental

Wonderful cake with pears. I haven't nade it in years. You gave me an idea!
Fondant aux poires
Make a caramel at the bottom of a round cake tin or flan dish (heat proof)
(boil ~150 g of sugar with a bit of water until it turn into caramel. always do mine in the microwave).
Peel the pears and put them straight over the caramel.
Make the following batter:
150 g butter
150 g sugar
3 eggs (medium)
180 g flour
Cream the sugar with the butter... until nice and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time adding a bit of flour if the mixture separate
Add the rest of the flour.
Pour over the pears.
Bake in medium oven (180C) for 30-40 minutes or until nice and golden.
Turn upside down on a serving dish BEFORE it cools (the caramel + pear juice will ooze...)

Hello, I have apples & pears in my fruit bowl that are a bit too ripe now for just eating - has anyone recipe suggestions to use these up? Don't want to just throw them out?
Thanks0 -
Adding over ripe apples and pears to cake mix can make really yummy, sticky moist cake. If you want to make it extra special add some golden syrup to the mixture too.0

Or...peel, pip, dice and cook gently for 5 mins in a pan. Let the mixture cool a little and serve with custard. My son loves hot fruit and custard.0

What about muffins ? Just vary it by adding pears & apples and maybe a few spices too, like cinammon to give it extra taste. Only takes 25 minutes to cook. Good site here that I like to use - http://allrecipes.com/0

I stew them with cinnamon and then they are yummy added to porridge or with custard/cream etc.
Peel and dice (removing stems/pips) and put in a pan with a tiny amount of water and sprinkle less than a teaspoon of cinnamon over. Put lid on and cook for about 5 mins or until soft.
I leave them to cool and them freeze them in portion sized pots...just take one out of the freezer the night before you want to eat it for breakfast. Also delicious cold with natural yoghurt.0 -
Crumble, or Eve's Pudding (like crumble, but a sponge topping instead), are both lovely winter warmers, and should freeze.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0
