it shows the white membrane on the right pic
remove the front cover and warm the membrane with a hairdrier (to soften the sticky)
then carefully peel it back
you should see some silver disks - these must be spotless underneath and also the contacts on the pcb where they touch. i use a fiberglass pencil brush.
make sure you dont dislodge the disks out of position.
it should be sticky enough to replace into position again.
if its the other buttons you will need to remove the pcb, then it should be similar.
dont know anyone in n/e but you can pm me if you have a problem sorting it0 -
I dropped a phone in a bucket of water once and after a stint on the radiator and taken apart and dried it didn't work. For some reason we kept it in a box with some other stuff and a year later it was working much better0

Anyone looking for a robust mobile phone, I can recommend Siemens SF65. Ours has just accidentally gone through a 1 hour 40 degree wash and lived to tell the tale. It's on Virgin PAYG and seems to be in perfect working order. Address book is intact. Only thing it lost were its settings such as date, time and selected ringtone, but these were easily reset.
Couldn't believe it when I opened washer door and saw it there. Emptied out water, left to dry overnight and now have a shiny clean phone.0 -
That sounds pretty good I had a Sony Erricson K750i last year and it did not get wet at all in any way shape or form but stopped working, due to WATER DAMAGE!!! I couldn't work it out, anyway had to make a claim on my insurance, (£30) cost. Got a new phone then upgraded shortly afterwards, Insurance company tried to give me a reconditioned phone, as soon as I realised I got a brand new phone.
Anyway how did my phone get wet without getting wet???
I never did understand this...:rotfl: Smile Your Saving:rotfl:0 -

it can be due to condensation getting into your phone or a slight bit of rain. you can always ask for evidence from the repair company to show where that water damage has occured
some people are very lucky by washing their phones and others are not. i washed my phone in the washing machine on xmas day and it was completly dead. absolute pain.0 -
And now (surprise surprise!) it won't work! She is panicing and constantly ringing me up onthe land line asking me to help her get it to work (she is 80 and lives 100 miles away from me so I can't physically help her with this).
I don't know much about them but I told her to take it to bits and let it dry out. She has done this and put it back together but it says "emergency calls only" - is the problem the SIM card or the phone? Or is it both?
I presume I can get her a new SIM card easily enough, shall I do this now or wait to see if it rights itself? She is on PAYG with Virgin.
Anyhelp gratefully received.

Water WONT destroy the simcard Either the contacts are wet or its not quite inserted correctly. Get her to take the sim out, dry it on a tissue, and dab the copper coloured contacts, then put it back in again.0 -
Make sure she has left the phone to dry for plenty of time seems to be the general advice.

sounds like the sim reader (or sim controller chip) is shorting out.
i would strip it right down and leave it in an airing cupboard for a couple of days before trying again0
