its shorting out inside, even if it was dry the corrosion will prob carry on shorting it.
the only way it may be saved is to strip it and have it properly cleaned (ultrasonic) but this will only work if nothing has been physically damaged.
may still need a new screen though as they seem short out easily on s.e phones for some reason?0 -
Have sent it off to SE for repairs ...see where it goes from there.0

hi
anyone got any ideas on how to get my son's mobile phone working after accidentally washing it in the washing machie?
obviously, any ideas are gratefully received
many thanks0 -
I've done this aswell leave it to dry out completly in warm dry place for a couple of days then try using the power lead to power it up, I found the water damaged the battery and had to buy a new one for the phone. You could also take it along to a phone shop who will chemically clean it and dry it.0

thank you for your advice. I'll tell him what you said when he gets up! - it might slightly lessen the trauma of it all for him!0

I've done it to two phones now. One survived, one didn't.
Good luck!0 -
My daughter in law did that and the phone never worked again
BUT on the up side she sold it on ebay for more than it was worth explaining honestly that it was water damaged and not working
There is a thread on the ebay forum :things you never thought you could sell:
hope it dosent come to this and it works fine when its dried out
GOOD LUCK !0 -
Remove the battery asap - then dry both phone and battery in warm place for a few days0

Did this to mine a few weeks back, take it apart as best you can and leave in the airing cupboard for at least 3 days. Dont switch it on to check it works as this can short the battery (dont worry if you have already
)
Mine works perfectly, its just annoying having to wait so long

poeple probably use a water damaged phone for spare parts such as the screen and keypad. for example some screens are expensive for certain phones, so people buy damaged phones for the screen as it may work out cheaper than buying a screen on its own (and you get extra spares as well)
if it still doesnt work after leaving the battery out, try cleaning the corrosion off the circuit board with a toothbrush (or similar). i have revived a nokia doing this.0
