My phone got a little wet today when it was in my pocket whilst I ran the race for life. It only got damp and before this has happened to other phones which have been fine. My mums (same phone) got soaked and works fine still.
Mine started spazzing out turning on and off, dialing numbers, going through menus, deleting text messages before finally giving up the ghost. I left it and have been trying it out ever since. Now it turns on and works fine apart from having no backlight!!
I also charged it for 4 hours this evening, took it off charge (100%) turned the profile onto silent and then my battery was at 58%. I left it for 2 mins and checked again and it was down to 26%.
Is there anything I can do, my provider can do (new 18 month contract was taken out in Feb) or should I try claiming for a new phone off house insurance and lay this one to rest?0 -
On the top of the battery there is a little white sticker if this has gone red then it's definately water damage and you won't be able to get it fixed by the provider/store - as this is what they use to check for Water Damage, which isn't covered under the warranty. But you could try for home insurance if it's covered.0

DO NOT put it on the radiator. If you subject it to undue heat, it will probably cause the chassis and or parts inside to warp.
Remove the battery (this is the most important part), and leave it to dry naturally.
As the battery was not removed as soon as it got wet there is a likelyhood the damage may be irreversible. However, as most of it is back working, you may be lucky and may may come fully back to life, if left to dry out properly.
It's just a waiting game now, but dont be tempted to put the battery back in for at least 48 hours.0 -
Hi krayzechick
What network do you use, as most will have other options available to you?0 -
sounds like the screens connector has gone.
i had a k700i once that was water damaged and the backlight didnt work, so i swapped the lcd with another k700i i had (that had a working backlight) but it didnt work0 -
Thanks for your messages. I took the battery out and wiped it at soon as I noticed it was wet, however the inside wasnt wet at all. It was only wet on the outside - and only looked like it had a few spots of water on it.
I charged it fully this morning after drying my phone out for over 12 hours. I turned it off after half an hour. Loaded it back up at lunch time and battery was down to 54% ...turned it off again and then back on at 4.30pm and it was down to 16% ...now it wont even turn on despite being on charge!!0
