my samsung x640 made a suicide leap into the toilet a few months ago- took sim card out, removed battery, hairdryered it, and then after a couple of days of just leaving it out we put it back together and it worked.
there are no guarantees that a phone will work after doing this but its always worth a shotIf at first you do succeed, try not to look astonished.
What has four legs and an arm? A happy pit bull0 -
Only had my phone for less than a week, and I managed to dunk it into a pint glass (don't ask how). It's dead, even though it worked briefly afterwards.
I didn't see an option for insurance when I signed up for the contract, but I see it as an option on their website (but not available to buy?!)
Am I covered in any way or am I totally stuffed? A mate of mine said that since it was within a month, I could send it back?! I think he's talking rubbish though.

i washed my OH mobile int he washing money and had it in dryer for 10mins before realising. like you it worked for a while gave up! so we took it apart- well battery and sim card out- and left it for about 2 days wrapped in a towel and when we put it all back together it worked!! thank god! as my friend works for vodafone and he's told me that if you send a phone back they can checkfor water damage and wont replace it if they find any evidence.'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0

Sometimes they give you 3 months half price insurance but it does mention it on the contract where your price plan is.
Also sometimes they just add it without asking.
I don't think you are covered for "Water Damage" anyway though.
Try and put it on a towel on top of a radiator, leave it for 2 or 3 days to dry out , then see if it turns on. Smile, you only get one life, LIVE IT.0 -
It says in the T+C / info on the insurance, you are covered for water damage. It won't even charge up the battery any more, so I guess it's totally stuffed.vodafone wrote:Accidental damage
If your mobile is damaged we will repair or replace it with a new or refurbished phone (includes water damage)0 -
Have you tried taking it completely apart, back off, front off, battery out, sim out etc and leaving them on a radiator on low for a few days or somewhere dry and quite warm or hairdrying it. I've got a few phones back from the dead (completely dunked, toasted) by doing this. I find hairdrying on low is not enough it's a good way to start and then let it dry out for a few days naturally in somewhere warm and try it.
Can you take insurance out not, wait a few weeks and then take it back? Not exactly ethical. I haven't tried it but I remember someone saying it before. Depends on the insurance. I like to get what I call idiot proof insurance on things. That's if you think you can use you phone/camera in the shower or something equally stupid they will replace it or something to that effect. Thankfully never had to use it.0 -

I tried putting it in the airing cupboard, which sort of worked, but now the phone is totally dead. Battery doesn't want to charge at all. There's water / cream soda ! under the LCD as wellsniff.
I'm actually going to take out insurance now and just hope for the best. Like you say, not ethical really, but its my only option and I do sorta feel bad about doing it. I don't care if I get a slightly worse phone in return, I probably didn't need a W850i in the first place
They say claim within 7 days of the accidental damage, so presumably they'll be able to tell when it was I dunked it?0 -
not if you leave it in water, the internal rust signs wont be I guess lolIf I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:0 -
My Samsung phone was in my jean pocket and I didn't realise until they were in the washer for about 10 mins.
I'm assuming the phone's knackered now, as it wont turn on.
Is there a chance it might work when it dries out??
Is there anything I can do with it, apart from binning it??
Stupid me!I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
Take the battery and sim out of the phone and dry it off as best as possible, Then leave the phone (without the Battery) in a warm place (I used the Airing cupboard) It might take a few days to completely dry out but it worked for me.0
