This reminds me of a bloke I used to work with who kept his mobile in a mug on his desk. One day after taking a call on it he dropped it straight into a different mug, full of tea.

Laugh :rotfl: - no he didn't actually!

As I recall he rinsed it under the tap and left it on the radiator for a few days and it worked fine.
  • Haven't been well today and as I reached for the bucket _pale_ I knocked my Samsung e530 off the sofa and into my glass of water that was on the floor . It's now dead and am trying to dry it out on the radiator.

Have missed the calling times for O2 as they shut at 8pm. Am going to call tomorrow as soon as they open. Was paying monthly for insurance so if this had happened about 4 weeks ago, I would have been covered. As my contract has been updated slightly, do you think I'll still be paying for insurance as this was not discussed during my call to them and I assumed I'd still be paying for it?

Guess I'll find out more in a few hours unless anyone else knows already. Would be glad to hear from you if so.

  • I have merged your post into this thread which gives loads of tips on what to do with a water damaged phone.

Hopefully this might help until you can find out about your insurance from 02

    :)
  • Tried putting the phone on the radiator but it won't turn on :(

Have spoken to O2, who say that I do have insurance still :j and that my claim is valid. Just don't have my phone in stock at the moment so will be waiting for their call.

Having a few days without a phone (my choice). Don't get that many calls anyway.

Son goes to University for first time and forgets to remove phone from pocket before he puts jeans in washing machine. Phone is ruined (makes a funny noise and wont switch on). Its a Three Monthly contract phone and we have no insurance.

What do you advise as the best solution?

The phone was a Sony Ericsson K610i - SIM card is probably OK I would think.

    Help Lushkat x
  • I've merged your thread with this previous thread where we have accidents ranging from thro the washing machine to down the toilet, hopefully some of the advice will help :)

only chance of getting it working is to have it stripped and ultrasonic cleaned, but there is no guarentee it will work - depends on the damage already done
also remove the battery as this can still be causing more damage , even when switched off
get a cheapo 3 phone from ebay so you can still use the sim
  • I was told never to put a hairdryer on the phone as it will drive the droplets of water further in. Makes senses when you think about it.
