water damaged mobiles, merged threads

Hello,

I suppose the most obvious response to this question would be take it to be repaired but....

My Motorola V3 went down the toilet, it was in my back pocket, only for a few seconds and it's flamin' broke! It turns on and makes a few noises sometimes and the button backlights come on but the screen itself doesn't!

Any advice please??? Yes, I have taken it out and it is dry or appears to be.

Can you take it to the shop and get it changed. Do you insurance out on it.

    I bet your getting a sh**ty signal now!!!:rotfl:

Sorry couldnt resist, reminds me of the time someone i know dropped their fone in a septic tank.

Hairdryer works a treat, i have done that before after water damage.

Some repair shops can cheaply repair water damaged phones, but i wouldnt be too eager to tell them you dropped it down the toilet though.

May'be a little white lie could be required.

Good luck and sorry about the poor tasting joke.

    Regards

try taking the battery out and leaving it to dry for a couple of days. My daughters Nokia ended up at the bottom of her friends swimming pool but after a few days it was fine (although I didn't hold out much hope in the beginning). Good Luck
  • Was just going to say take the battery out and let it dry for a few days.

If it dosen't work after 3 days replace the battery as they tend to be the first thing to go with water damaged products.

    Hope it helps.

mr divadee left his in his pocket and it went through a 40 degree wash  I couldnt believe it when it turned on straight away!!!!

We left it to dry out for a couple of days and no problems at all. I think because his was in the very thick leather case that comes with the phone might of helped protect it a bit though as the inside of the case wasnt that wet.

I still couldnt believe that it worked though

My dd dropped my v3 last week in the sink!! Took it apart to let it dry out for a few days but although it switches on and the screen works the numbers on the keyboard dont. I have had to put the sim in my old nokia 3330, so at least I can make and receive calls.

Try taking it apart and putting it in the airing cupboard for a few days...thats what I did when I dropped mine down the toilet & it was working within a few days.
