Can anybody tell me if it is possible to repair a mobile phone after it has been submerged in water? if so where is the cheapest place to get it done and how much should i expect to pay?

I had a mate that dropped a brand new mobile in the bath - he tried everywhere and everything, but it was a total write-off. Sorry! :eek:I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.0

Take the battery out and take the phone apart as much as you can and
leave dry in the airing cupboard or somewhere like that for about a week.
Re-assemble then try if no good.. House Insurance.0 -
A mate dropped a Sony Ericsson phone in the bog (yes ... POST DUMP !!) and it still works ... luckily there was some toilet paper on top so it didn't come out stinking of ... well I'll stop there eh !?0

They did that with a mobile on the gadget show a couple of months back...
As Intel said; just dismantle it and let it dry, naturally (no hairdriers!!!)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Remember seeing a on the Gadget show on the TV and it said to remove all the parts that you can i.e. battery, cover and anything else that is easily removable but if it won't open dont force it. Once you have opened it up get a cotton bud and dab the water to dry the most parts of the water and them place the item under a lamp to dry out and re-assemble when it is fully dried out.
On most items that they tried the got the stuff to work again but don't open the phone fully as it will affect the warrenty if you decide to go through the insyrance company on the phone0 -
first off, I wouldn't bother sending a water damaged phone back to a service centre beecause they will tell you how it got broke, with a pretty picture of the water mark on the PCB!
Being an technician myself I always have a bottle of Isopropyl alcohol (available from old fashioned chemists and the like) and this is great for soaking the main board and displacing most of the water, but more importantly removing the impurities from the board - It is these that will do the damage given time! Water by itself is absolutely harmless to electronics! The alcohol also evaporates and in the case of isopropyl, leaves no residue! Colourless meths will also do the trick but try and get hold of that! Oh, a cotton wool bud helps as well!0 -

Most instances with water yes it can be brought back to life if certain issues havent taken place.
I have repaired many that have had water damaged but you have to be fairly quick.
Firstly i strip the phone down and blast it with a hairdryer not hot but warm you dont want to get to much heat on the components for about 15-20 mins then i place it some where warm airing cupboard is a good place.
Then and only when i am certain it is dry i will attach the battery (this is where most damage is done to the phone you wouldnt soak anything else electrical and immediately attach a power supply to it but 99.9% of ppl who get there phones wet do which results in damage to the PCB).
You may find that this procedure brings your phone back to life which in most cases it will allthough not everything may work as before motorolas have a issue with the lcds when they are exposed to water they work but there is no light to see the screen.
And never totally right the phone of i had a nokia given to me that had been in someones pocket who was thrown in a paddling pool when through the procedure of drying but nothing at all weeks went by every 3 days or so id have a tinker with it then after about a month doing the same things i did before popped in the battery and the phone powered up and worked.2008 Wins Jan Jimi Hendrix Live at Monterey: The Definitive Edition on HD DVD £12.98, £10 amazon voucher, £10 amazon voucher, £10 amazon voucher,£500 love2shop voucher, £10 amazon voucher, dvd and chocolate £8.12, Portable dvd player + town called eureka boxset £126Total £687.100 -
Make sure you let it dry out naturally. Your only trouble is that any chemicals etc. will get into the mainboard and components and may damage it. You have a 50/50 chance of getting it working again.0
