http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2246055Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Rang up, got the promotion, waited the 2 weeks for the Guy to come around to install the line.
Then 5 days later we get our first bill and BT charged us £29.99 for the installation as opposed to it being free, yes we have rang up to complain and they are dealing with it (within 5 days apparently) but just warning people about BT practices0 -

Same here - just read my online bill and i'm getting charged £124.99 for installation when my order email clearly states it is free.
Can a BT rep on the board please look at this?0 -

There is a BT faceplate there and the previous tenant had an active line up till 2 months ago. Do I really still need to pay an install fee?
Thanks,
Sean
Is there a dial tone, that is the decider as to whether a fee has to be paid or not?0 -

Done, as requested. Thanks for your help!0 -
We moving home and the new place already has a connection. We were told that they can make it live again for free but that we would be in contract with BT for a year. sort of blackmail. Considering all they do is flick a switch I think this is very unfair. If they were installing a new line, then I woudl agree to a year long contract.
Have I been given the correct information regarding switching on the line for free free and then being in contract for a year?0
