  • BT are a bunch of cowboys.
  • I have received a reply to my post (post id 1598, page 80) from Paddy (BT Representative) but I am not really happy with it. They cannot actually prove that there was not a live phone line in the property when I moved in... So, my solicitor friend is ready is off to court to file the claim on Monday. BT could have got away paying me back the connection charge now they will have to pay court costs etc. :T I will keep you updated! :j

Thanks Heinz, I will give them another call today to see if I get a different 'bod' who might tell me the truth.

Why does BT bother with an offer which they do not wish to fullfill. Obviously they just use it as a carrot to get you to ring then charge you the full whack.

Make sure you call 0800 800 030 for the FREE Connection Offer and that you ask to be connected to the BT's customer options team .

After all my bother the number they gave me is someone elses number. I'm getting phone calls looking for the girl who previously had this number at another address. They kept insisting it was a full connection charge for any work at all that's needed from the bt workers to connect the line. They were telling me to tell their own workers to phone them and they would explain why there was a connection charge.
They still haven't got the billing right yet so I'm waiting to see if there are any more mistakes before I write to the bosses. I should have written from day one. These representatives just keep making it look as if they care on this site.
Bt need to learn customer loyalty and they need to get real with their pricing structures. Most of us these days need a phone and a broadband service. Why are they not looking to be our provider for life instead of holding us to an 18 month contract against our will. I can understand the need for such contracts when it comes to Broadband as the companies have to supply wireless routers etc' Is there not a case for suggesting that their line rental charges alone cover all their existing lines and connection or installation charges should only be for having to provide new lines that previously did not exist.

I bought my own router.

I like companies who don't have long contracts.

If the service is poor you can move easily.

I have emailed you back after getting a paper bill this morning which is wrong. I need you to sort out my online account. It was properly set up but they are billing me for the wrong amounts. They said they would fix it but it still shows an outstanding bill which is wrong and they say it will be taken on 30/01/2010. Can you please help.

The subject of the email I wrote was: bt online bills
I have included my full account details and telephone number within.

(I'm a new user so can't post the link but you'll see it above...)

Anyone had any luck with these?
The bloke I've spoken to is adament that you can't "upgrade" your calling plan (despite it saying so in those T&Cs) - he says you can't change it at all within the 18 months.

Also, that you can't use anyone else for a call provider (I was going to go with BT for line rental and another provider for phonecalls and broadband) and that it's only open for installation of Broadband and Telephone...

    HELP please folks!

Refer him to the T&C by giving him the URL and letting him see he is wrong.

That bit is correct - you have to make 10 inclusive/chargeable calls per month. How can you do this if you take your calls elsewhere?

(I was going to go with BT for line rental and another provider for phonecalls and broadband)

You can have another provider for BB. So BT line rental and O2(for example) for BB. My son has done just that with the free connection offer.

and that it's only open for installation of Broadband and Telephone...

    HELP please folks!

Phone again and speak to the Customer Options Team and no-one else. If necessary quote the URL and let them read the offer themselves.
