BT Connection Charges (merged threads)

That bit is correct - you have to make 10 inclusive/chargeable calls per month. How can you do this if you take your calls elsewhere?
Let's theorise. You've got a new line. You contact Primus and ask them to deal with your calls. Calls only, mind, not line rental. CPS is what you are after. Now 1280 is your friend.Phone again and speak to the Customer Options Team and no-one else. If necessary quote the URL and let them read the offer themselves.0 -

I agree - in theory - I have Primus CPS myself and use 1280 at weekends to keep my Caller Display free.
BTm however, may argue the toss with moving calls away even if it is just CPS.
Then of course there is the minefield of choosing the wrong CPS, like SkyTalk, which does not allow you to hop back onto BT through 1280. Before you know it you are being charged extra each month/quarter for not fulfilling the T&C.0 -

Anyone had any luck with these?
The bloke I've spoken to is adament that you can't "upgrade" your calling plan (despite it saying so in those T&Cs) - he says you can't change it at all within the 18 months.
Also, that you can't use anyone else for a call provider (I was going to go with BT for line rental and another provider for phonecalls and broadband) and that it's only open for installation of Broadband and Telephone...
HELP please folks!
The T&C are confusing they do say "Customers must remain on their chosen Calling Plan for 18 months from the date of purchase" and then later on they contradict this.
You can use a broadband supplier of your choice.
You can use an indirect access supplier like www.18185.co.uk
,and still make the required 10 calls a month via BT.
You can use a CPS supplier but you may not be able to make the minimum number of calls required by BT.See previous comments.
The offer is open to phone and call customers only, any probs ask to speak to manager,or try another advisor.0 -
I queried why the 10 calls were necessary and she explained that they do expect you to keep your calls with BT and this was the only way to ensure you didn’t sign up to another supplier for your calls. I had to agree it was a fare policy given they had given you free connection they were entitled to expect some business from you. She also explained that you can upgrade your call plan but not downgrade it.
I’m holding my breath, but if everything I have been told from the BT representatives comes true in the next 2 days, I will have to say they have been good to do business with. Their presence on this forum and the 0800 numbers for complaints has been their saving grace. If I had been charged for the calls I have had to make to set up the line and get the billing right it would have been an absolute nightmare. I may end up recommending them.0 -

Not quite. CPS is indirect access without having to use a code like 18185 preceding the dialled number. Getting back on the BT network to make the 10 calls is easy with 1280. The trick is in finding a CPS provider.0 -
Hi
Is it possible to take up the free BT connection charge but not have the phone installed until end April?
I have to move out of my property next week for 3 months and it seems daft to pay for the package whilst I am away.
Thanks0 -
I ordered my new line but then came across this deal. Rang tham up and I asked him could I cancel it and then make a new order with the free line connection and the fela on the line said hel see if he can just change the order so I dont have to wait longer to have it installed. Low and behold all was done and I got the connection for free and he managed to change the order so I dont have to wait longer.
Didnt expect this from BT (Thumbs up).0 -

If you phone BT three different times and ask the same questions each time they will all give you different answers.
They are one of the worst companies in Britain to deal with.0 -

Yes as you rightly point out if your call provider is now using BT WCLI so you cant access 1280 , they're no longer a CPS operator because CPS means the calls are routed to a third party network.0 -
Hi,
Is this connection offer still on? If not is the Plusnet cheap line installation deal still current?
My girlfriend has just moved into a new flat and her only option is BT (no Virgin) and there's no LLU at her exchange, she needs internet but not really the landline though I can't see any way to avoid it.
I want her to spend as little as possible. Would the following work?:
1. Get her the 18 month free install deal through Quidco, saving £20.
2. Then get her BT Broadband on top, with only a 12 month contract, and £50 back off Quidco.
That means she'd only be tied in for 6 months for the phone which is only 60 quid, still cheaper than paying the line install fee, and the broadband would be on an annual contract.
BT Rep - by the way I emailed your department (btcare@) 4 days ago and got no reply. There is a BT faceplate there and the previous tenant had an active line up till 2 months ago. Do I really still need to pay an install fee?
Thanks,
Sean0
