Worriedsik - I don't know what I would do without OH, but I do need to be able to get out on my own accord.
It's too easy to just rely on someone else & not make the effort - I've done that & am a bit scared I've left it too late to learn to drive.

never rely on someone - always know that whatever happens you will be able to survive on your own!

It's never too late to learn to drive - it will give you confidence, independence, I don't know how old you are, coming from a rural area I've been driving since I was 17, go for it, you won't know until you at least take the first lesson.

We all hit times when we just need a place to get it out - not needy, normal.

Could you get a hardship grant from Uni - do they still do those?

At least Oh could give me lessons - did before, but kinda let it slide.
  • yep....i agree but i rely on my legs lol i wont ever drive because off accident i had with a car , i cycle in summer, bus and walk in winter but never ever relyed on anybody else

  • choille - I've been meaning to apply for extra uni funding for some time. As it's disability-related I may stand a chance, but the less-sympathetic 30 odd page forms also stand in the way! I will start looking, also at lessons as finding suitable time could be the bigger issue. But -deep breath- it can be done. must be done.

Nothing wrong in thanking people who you feel have helped - seems to me like you've made some online friends anyway.

Now this young-at-heart-money-saver has got to be up early in the morning so hugs all round - maybe we can all meet up again on here?

I'm lucky in many ways Worriedsik, but I have become very isolated - it is here & there are places that I would love to be able to just get out to, but have to rely on OH taking me - which isn't a problem as such, just would be nice to be able to get & go shopping without him having to take me - not fair on him - although he doesn't mind at all.
