TakTalk and Tiscali

Since I rejected the above offer and switched from Tiscali to Plusnet broadband at the end of December, I have been having problems with Tiscali. Despite the fact I rang them for a MAC code and did the switch to Plusnet, then cancelled my direct debit with Tiscali, I received a demand for another payment. I rang them and agreed to pay an extra £12 to cover what they said was still owed, and also posted to them evidence of my switch to Plusnet. However this morning I have received four emails, two of whcih said that my line has now been enabled for 'Tiscali broadband' and two that my line has been enabled for TalkTalk broadband! What on earth is going on? It seems that confusion reigns, but at least my Plusnet connection doesn't seem to have been affected yet. I am now waiting for a deluge of bullying letters asking for money to pay for the new service/s. Has anyone else been having these problems with Tiscali/TalkTalk?0

I got the letter and am pretty unhappy with the situation. I am (was) on Tiscali's £14.99 per month package, including line rental. Talk Talk are offering me the "great value" opportunity for my bills to go up by 23% to £18.48 without the service changing. I signed up to one thing and now it has been unilaterally changed: it is tempting to put two fingers up to Talk Talk and take my custom elsewhere to show that we consumers will not stand for this sort of treatment.
However, much as I dislike it, it is still, compared to the rest of the market, quite a good deal. Looking at alternatives available I think my cheapest option would be to have a landline and calls from Primus, at £9.99 per month and broadband from Plusnet at £11.99 per month (I live in a "Market 2" exchange area so am not eligible for £5.99 per month broadband). This is a total of £21.98: £3.50 per month more expensive than the Talk Talk package. Those two fingers begin to look a little expensive. If I were to do it through the right comparison and cashback sites I would get £38 back for the broadband and get the line rental for £9.15 per month. This works out at £18.81 per month for the first year, which is still slightly more than Talk Talk and it would still go up to the £21.98 after that.
I may carry on with the evil Talk Talk for the moment and see if anyone comes up with a better offer. I'm still not happy, though.0 -

I think that only applys if you sign up for a 'new' 18 month contract. If you just let your current contract continue, then you're not eligible for the 0845/0870 numbers.0 -

Sounds par for the course.
When I applied for my MAC code they sent me 2 letters, on consecutive days, telling me that they had successfully transferred my broadband connection from my old address to my new one. They actually did this 3 years ago! When I emailed them to ask why these letters had been sent they responded by saying they were sorry I wanted to leave Pipex and told me what I must do to cancel my account
In my very limited experience with them (thankfully) I have to say that TalkTalk have the worst, most inept customer service I have ever encountered. They clearly don't know whether they are on their a**es or their elbows.
I pity anyone who ever has to deal with them.0 -
I know everyone keeps putting TalkTalk down but as far as I can see it was the cheapest option for me to take. I was a tiscali customer for broadband (which was unlimited at £14.99 a month) and BT for the line rental and free weekend calls (roughly spending £15 a month) so therefore spending near £30 a month.Coming to the end of my contract with them I rung talk talk to see what deal they would offer me,I feel 2 months free,2 months at 9.48 and 14 months at £18.48 plus free connection and a free wireless router was a good offer (especially since they are the cheapest anyway, didnt want the hassle of moving companies and its saving me £11 a month) I suppose only downside is 18 month contract.
But hey we cant have it all our own way can we!!0 -
Cancelled my contract after they increased prices so left without having to pay leaving charge...
However after sending them my first invoice as to when I started with my new ISP after using their MAC code (don't get me started how they should already know when I changed providers having used their MAC code!!!) they are then claiming I should pay when I called to cancel my contract which was done when I called as to why I was still being billed when checking my online bill .Latest line from them is that I didn't give them 30 days notice as well!?!?!
edit: forgot to mention that I emailed them pdf documents for my invoice... they replied asking for them to be sent as pdf or sent to them via snail mail!... ever get the feeling you aren't actually talking to someone??? of course the reason for this is that they hope you give up and pay them for a poor service. I'd email ofcom, oftel or the powers that aren't...whatever they are called but would probably resolve this problem before then!0 -
Talk Talk said they have terminated the contract we signed with Tiscali and we will have to pay £22.48 a month from the 15th Feb. When the original 18 month contract was signed last year it was for just under £20 quid. Seems like they can dispense with contract law when it suits them.Peel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there. Peer at your baby's eyes for them to reflect back just people-throw away your flags and religious symbols...0

I know of people who are very happy with their TalkTalk service and for a lot of people they are always the cheapest option. The only time to worry is if things go wrong.0 -
Further to my earlier message about Tiscali/Talk Talk bombarding me with spurious, irrelevant emails since I switched to Plusnet in December, I've now had a letter from a senior director in the company stating that he has instructed BT to remove their broadband service from my landline telephone on 02 February 2010. As I no longer have either Tiscali or Talk Talk broadband, I don't know how they hope to achieve this! Presumably it was written in response to my own letter of 13 January in which I responded to a spurious Tiscali/Talk Talk Reminder letter about overdue payment, but it is quite clear that they did not even read it. I made it quite clear that I no longer have either a Tiscali or Talk Talk broadband service and that my line ‘went live’ with Plusnet on 23 December. In fact, once they’d sent me my MAC code, Tiscali didn’t even wait for the transfer to take place but cut my broadband service a few days earlier, leaving me to struggle along with a pay-as-you-go service in the meantime.
I've just posted a very stroppy response to him requesting a letter from Talk Talk acknowledging that my account has been PROPERLY closed, otherwise I shall be forced to raise a complaint with Oftel about them.
Even their senior management don't seem to be able to read a straihtforward letter and are programmed only to send out irrelevant standard letters and emails!0 -
I have recieved the exact same letter regarding what JanMGreen did. I have upgraded mine from tiscali max unlimited to talktalk essesntials, but still the letter doesnt make much sense as it says if you have upgraded or moving home then ignore the information below. Well why send it then? Make matters worse I have recevied the new modem plugged it in,its not working but the old tiscali one is, Im confused? Oh well atleast still got internet for now!0
