TakTalk and Tiscali

The suggestion above from musicalnorwich is great, if anyone can ever get a sensible response about anything from TalkTalk! I have now written three furious letters to them, enclosingall the evidence they have asked for, that Plusnet went live on December 23, but STILL the bombardment with nonsensical TalkTalk letters and emails continues, with no evidence that anyone there reads my letters at all. Instead I am told that my broadband will be stopped with BT on February 9, then by email that the letter was a mistake and they won't be doing that, and today i've received exactly the same letter again - from the same Senior Director - saying that my broadband will be stopped with BT on Feb 9. I just had a conversation with someone at their Customer Services who told me it take 12 days for our letters (to the address they give!) to even get into their system, and that it's Plusnet's fault anyway because they didn't let them know when their MAC code was used to switch my line to them.
I'm now right at the end of my tether!0 -
Latest on Tiscali contracts : TalkTalk signals U-turn over Tiscali deals.

Latest on Tiscali contracts : TalkTalk signals U-turn over Tiscali deals.

thanks for posting that, it was interesting. Unfortunately for me, I am long out of contract, but the 50% increase I have to pay next month is still the best deal on the market, available to me.0 -
It also seems to say it only applies to those that signed up between sept and dec 2009 so those of us that have been with tiscali for years are not covered by this supposed u-turn, or am I misunderstanding it?0

Thanks for that Guardian post, but after reading it my head would be spinning even more after eventually getting away from a company :j that just says what it says on the tin.... TalkTalk and no action.0

No, unfortunately, you are not.
I have been with them for years, but they could offer me was a £7 a month increase and a capped download limit. Take it or leave it.
I left it.0 -
There are a lot of negative comments here about TalkTalk. I do agree with a few of them, however, I must say that as a current TalkTalk customer I have no problems with them whatsoever. There have been a few technical issues and a billing discrepancy but all sorted very quickly by customer services. The fact is they are the best value broadband and phone out there. If you get line rental, BB and phone from them you are quids in. The only way they are beaten is by plusnet but that has low speeds and a measly 10GB download limit.
Tiscali were going down the pan as a company and people may have had there BB cut without any refund. At least TalkTalk have stopped that happening even though they have had to make some price changes to make it a viable business.0 -
All,
Thought I would share my story with you, I have been with Tiscali 4 years, with no issues until in late 2008 when I tried to upgrade to their talk and line rental package, when they inadvertantly cut me off for over 2 weeks!!
I dealt with their CEO complaints team then as I emailed the CEO direct - to cut a very long story short things were sorted out with compensation and an agreement that I would get their 8MB BB line rental and anytime calls for £14.99 and it was agreed this would be for the duration of my custom!
Now this - they want to reduce my service to evening and weekend calls only and increase the price to £18.48!!
So back onto my contact in their CEO complaints team!!
As others have said they will not reduce the price at all - even with a prior agreement in the complaint resolution!
So I have looked at the Talk Talk Essentials Package - and to be honest would be happy to get this product with the extras I currently dont get such as free 0870 and 0845 call, free local calls anytime, free tech support calls, free voicemail and caller display.
But alas, whilst they are aligning pricing - they are not aligning products - so Talk Talk will charge their customers £18.48 for a package with all the above - but us poor Ex-Tiscali customers get charged the same for a wholey inferior product - Disgusting!!
I am still in the middle of this interaction with them so will post outcomes
Thanks

rcereda not exactly true as PlusNet have a 10Gb & a 80Gb service/usage allowance click here. Whilst they are restrictive with certain web apps click here.
The 80Gb each month should be more than adequate for most of the heavy internet users *also usage during 12am to 8am is not counted.
Additionally I'd check up on O2 ISP service (but check out MSE pages on broadband first)
If you are switching I'd ensure you get some free months and/or cashback for making the switch.
I was still in my early months of a 12/18 month contract and was very happy with Tiscali but as most people point out TalkTalk are awful when it comes to resolving problems... especially in your favour.0
