I could not help noticing that talktalk are have increased the monthly bb fees,
this may be for ex tiscali customers, But not long ago befor xmas 2009 they tt were outside my local morrisons ,trying to sell their products,

they did have a similar offer to what tiscali had previously had £6.49 for bb,and phone ect, so as somone suggested that they had to increase their prices to make it viable,is frankly bs,

glad i don't use em, had 12mths of tiscali, never again, and from what i have read on other forums ect they(tt) are no better than tiscali

if you ain't got probs with them, that may well be on how you use the connection and when, or not use as the case maybe,

btw, if you wanna leave talktalk then i suggest you write to them a formal letter of cancelation giving them the 30days notice as per t&c's
send this to head office adressed f.a.o charles dunstone md, by recorded post to their head office address, and if you want, also to their customer centre address also, then as the 30th day aproches ring them and formally request a MAC code, they then legally have 5 working days to provide this to you(for bb) if they don't ring ofcom and report them, plus if you are lucky ,ofcom will e-mail them on your behalve, belive me.that does work, theyt will be jumping though hoops, lol
another observation,http://www.talktalk.co.uk/misc/choice?area=contactus&ref=%2Finformation%2Fcontact-us%2F&id=1266194602 look at the bottom right hand side the text says,© Tiscali UK Limited trading as TalkTalk ,
so maybe the name change is a blag

Thanks, but I got the mac code in December and migrated in December. They will not give me a final invoice or refund even though I am using my new suppliers broadband and have been since December.I have now written to OTELO which apparently deals with this type of dispute rather than OFCOM who tell me they do not get involved in iternet supplier disputes.

how can a communications company be so bad at communicating with its customers! Their 0800 upgrade line is prob staffed with temp agency staff with little knowledge as get a diff answer when phone up, their website catches news headlines about them but no co. statement. The sh&t hit the fan when they started the bb service few years ago and now taking over tiscali!

yet another confused person here!

just received the infamous letter - i signed up to tiscali line, anytime calls and bb Unlimited) for £19.99/month plus 41p for 1571.

Am I right in thinking that as the letter says "if you would like to keep your existing service, you don't need to do anything and your price will change to £22.48/month" this means that if I swallow the price increase and don't take up their kind offer to "upgrade" to their inferior offer, I keep my original allowances as above and am not subjected to either new 18 month contract or the 40gb download cap? (I may be moving within 18 months so really don't want to get tied in as don't know what will be available in new area).

sorry if I'm being a numpty - I have read through most of the thread, but ended up even more confused.

I have also read through the thread and am also confused!!
This is the exact same thing I want to know, it's so confusing!! I had a very strange call from someone saying they are from talk talk and I need to give them my details so they can change it over and do me a better deal (even thought the price is going up from £14.99 to £18.38!) Anyway I swiftly hung up when he asked for my bank details!!
I guess if you don't 'upgrade' the contract continues as normal, apart from the price increase!

I am off to BT early March and once go live I will prob go with o2 for BB. Worth losing a fortnights BB and paying a little more

BT £11.54 LR x 12 + £4.99 A/T calls x 9 and £7.50 o2 U.BB x 12 = £ 273.39
TT £22.48 LR/ 40Gb BB x 12 = £269.76

I didn't fancy an 18 month TT lock in and 40Gb cap

I've read somewhere on here that o2 will be able to do the line rental and broadband in March so it might be worth checking with them first before taking out a 12 month contract with BT for your line rental. I did ring o2 in January and they told me they would be able to do this soon so worth checking.

I too am with Tiscali/TalkTalk and got the letter a few weeks ago, I have emailed Talk Talk and they have agreed to keep my monthly fee at £14.99 as per my original contract but they've capped my download limit so I am planning on going to o2 as soon as I can,

I rang o2 three times as I wanted to check proceduress and there was a problem with o2 recognising my phone number. It doesn't look like o2 can take over my line cos it aint a Bt one!! I can take Bt line rental and order o2 broadband to add to Bt once I am back with Bt. o2 say they have to see Bt on their line enquiry system. They may be able to do LLU all in to LLU all in, in the future.

Since Talk Talk took over my Tiscali account, I've decided not to sign up with Talk Talk's offer of two months half price broadband with an 18 month contract. I'm hoping that a cheaper or equivalent deal emerges from other providers. Any good poker player out there know if this is the best way to play my hand or is it just too much of a long shot anyway. I'm now on a monthly subscription with Anytime Talk and Line Rental at £22.48 a month plus 40g download allowance.
Peel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there. Peer at your baby's eyes for them to reflect back just people-throw away your flags and religious symbols...

• JanMGreen have the same problem.

Apparently I can cancel my contract, however is this contract agreed by both parties or just me?...

if I cancelled my 12 month agreed contact or decrease my payments then I would still be charged for this.

if Tiscali/TalkTalk increase or cancel my agreed 12 month contract nothing!?!

Now i have to look at signing up to a new 12 month contract! (shall post which one i am going for later...)

tonymc - save yourself the hassle with email addresses, register a cheap domain something like £2 for 2 years etc, ensure you can forward/redirect emails with it then give everyone the whatevername@newdomain.me.uk (which is redirected to whatever email account you want making it easy to move or even a web mail address (which doesn't have to change when you move isp's)).

edit: balmore correct - can cancel now that they have changed contract.
I had mean't to say that they have changed the contract whilst into it, yet if I wanted to do this such as wanting to pay less or just cancel it I would have been laughed at or had to pay the remaining fee! How this fair is beyond me!
On principle I am now going to have to accept another tied in 12/18 month contract... unless they change the goal posts!

Hi this Tiscali Talk Talk fiasco makes my blood boil.

It's a con, for my self had Tiscali Weekend phone and 8meg BB and free line rental £14.99 Now Talk C**P want to add eve phone for 18.49.

Going back to your post Do not change anything your self, let them make the move and ask repeatedly if this breaks your contract and will a new one be issued tying you to 18 mths... 18 MONTHS!!! of increased prices. If so look else where..where I don't know but something must be better and cheaper. Good luck

I have today received notice (like many others) that my Tiscali 8mb unlimited broadband and anytime talk and line rental is to increase to £22.48. Rang the number on the letter and was offered 3 months half price and free 0845/0870 numbers, rather than amazon voucher. I thought this was a good deal and accepted - until I came here and went and read the guardian article. So I rang them back to ask why I hadn't been offered this deal (my contract has run out, but the article does state "Customers who signed up with Tiscali or altered their package between September and December 2009 will be offered six months service at half price when they sign up to a new contract with TalkTalk. Those customers who want to stick with the original deal they signed, can do so. They will have to pay the TalkTalk tariff, but their account will be credited, up-front, with the difference, meaning they will pay nothing for the first few months).

The first person I dealt with said it wasn't possible, my deal had gone through to the admin team, and the deal involved getting supervisor involved and that it was really difficult - basically every excuse under the sun not to help. So I said I would therefore need to cancel my contract, so they put me through to cancellations.

The attitude there was so much different. I said that if they couldn't offer me 6 months at 1/2 price I would like to cancel my contract. Was given 6 months free straight away, no probs. Still get to call USA for free plus I get free 0845/0870 numbers (that costs me about £3 per month, even after saynoto0870!), caller ID, only downside is 40Gb limit, which the first sales person said that after 40Gb was reached it was a fair use policy. I think (don't know for certain, does anyone know where I can find out my usage on Tiscali??), I will be OK. So I am happy as I am actually in credit by £31 over 18 months.

So ask for your 6 months at 1/2 price if you are thinking of signing up.
