sori for being mizog yesterday. That's OK - what we're here for. Everyone's allowed to be mizzy once in a while. The kids and me made him a fathers day cake (delia sponge, jam, cream with strawberries on top, will hv later yum) Sounds good - save us each a piece?!?
Weather is very muggy isnt it?

Queenie/PenPen - when I read yr posts about yr chooks/home grown veg - can I ask? do you have Big gardens to fit it all in? hope thats no too nosey. I live in an old vicarage, with about 1/3 acre. Not as grand as it sounds, honest! Our hens have a pen about 3m by 5m at the bottom. As I've mentioned elsewhere, we inherited 13, have gradually lost them and replaced as necessary. Now have 3 hens and 4 chicks, though due to different difficulties, it looks like only 2 of those will get to see the outside (currntly in a hot box in our spare room). We're definitely intending to hatch more next year, though.

Not nosey at all, I love talking about my girlies!

    Hi everyone

Not read the thread yet as I only have 10 mins before my pork chops will be done, so I'll catch up later.

Yesterday when I 'signed' up for the flylady challenge, I was thinking today would be monday  . However, as it's not, I decided to leave the bathroom until tomorrow, but have instead bottomed the dining room. I did the windows last week but I have emptied and washed/polished all the display cabinets and crystal, vaxed the carpet and chair upholstery and washed the chair woodwork down with a weak stardrops solution. I swear my kids must sit UNDER the table and flick food around rather than AT the table, sometimes :rotfl: Just got one corner of carpet to do where I've pushed the table so that can be done later. I also have my bath full of bio washing powder solution soaking the tablecloths, so at least it means I can get a head start on my bathroom tomorrow cos the bath will be shiny :D:D

It's been a miserable day here today. Currently pouring down, so my 3 loads of washing have had to be done in the TD. My airer still has my superking duvet draped on it :) My dining chairs are now "airing" under the car-port whilst their upholstery dries :)

BM has been on but I may stick a banana cake in there after tea. Both my boys adore it and I have 3 manky bananas to use up. DW is now fully operational and just needs emptying prior to refilling with tea stuff. (I was sat on the kitchen floor at 10pm last night with assorted monkey wrenches etc trying to get the bits off I needed to release the lemon pips that were causing all the problems :D)

I have another mountain of ironing to do. Started last night at 11.45 pm (yes, this proves I am a night owl not a morning person) and did 1hr 45 mins (watched a film) but still have loads left to do.

Right, my GF grill has just beeped. Need to mash my spuds and sort out the veg and we can all sit down to tea - shock horror it will have to be in the living room on trays on our knees as DR is out of action!! Mr TM's personal hate :)

I'll catch up with the thread later and hope I haven't missed anything too sensational :)

Moggins - sorry to hear about your DS. I'm sure with all the TLC you'll lavish on him he'll soon be right as rain.
Aussie lass - You must be shattered fighting off something like that. Hope you get better soon.
Ally 1974 - hi there! I'm quite new to this forum too and still learning. They're a great bunch on here - and if you do a few searches on here you'll probably find lots of info on growing vege etc.
Culpepper - fantastic bargains!! The ones I find do have something in common - 20p. That's usually what they're reduced by!!!!
Ok - only up as far as page two and now I've got to get back to the stove!!!
(my flylady timer has beeped..... :p )

    Ok - back again ;)
Yesterday went completely opposite to plan, but had a lovely evening. DS2 was playing at a charity gig (bass player in H.metal band) and I was able to take DS1 and DS3 provided we were all out by 9 (it was held in a bar). After that we all went to the beach for our tea (my lot and the rest of the band & their family). By the time we were all sorted it was a lot later than we'd expected & almost everywhere was closed, so we all ended up eating kebabs on the prom, watching all the hen/stagg parties fall in and out of various bars :D
    Got home about 1am:eek:

Oddly I've been rather tired today - not sure why:rolleyes:

However, in preparation of the flylady challenge tomorrow I have
    1. Divided chicken into recipie portions ready for the meals planned for the week
    2. Worked menu plan around current diary for the week
    3. Made (and eaten most) banana bread
    4. Wash load done in WM (lovely weather so put on line - started to rain before finished. Brought it in - rain stopped!)
    5. Lovely pasta chicken and broccoli thingy madefor tea with some of the chicken & stock done is S/C
    6. cooked a large curry (one for this week, one to freeze)

I'm planning on making a pie with some of the chicken and stock on Tuesday - any tips? The plan is to slow cook bones for more stock(monday night), strain then add the chicken, fried bacon and mushrooms, simmer on high to thicken, add milk powder to sauce, then either top crock pot with puff pastry (old stock from freezer) or transfer to another dish to top.
I do have a pie flute - but no idea how to use it :o
What temp should I then 'cook' it on, and for how long? Anything else I should know??? In 17 years of cooking for a household I've never made a pie!!!
Fingers crossed one of you will rescue me!

    Hi everyone

Not only is it Fathers Day but also my 7th wedding anniversary  .

The children bought DH a new pen and pencil set and DS baked cakes and then him and his sister ate most of them:rolleyes: which meant they weren't really hungry for the meal we took them for tonight, but since kids ate free :money: I didn't mind too much.

Car in garage tomorrow, so depending on cost of repair I may not have a car from now on. With youngest about to start in school nursery in Autumn 2 minutes awat and college now finished I can manage without it-just:o . Will also be starting flylady but very small rooms to start off with till DD goes to her nursery at end of week.

    Hi folks :D

It's been quite a productive day really - have got rid of 3 bags of rubbish (1 general, 2 recyclable paper), had the WM on, baked housemate's belated birthday cake which is now cooling and I will ice tomorrow night. Now relaxing with a glass of chenin riesling from Mr Laithwaite's last voucher-assisted consignment ;)

Church was lovely this morning, although we had a visiting priest who seemed not to know the meaning of punctuation, and did a whole 15-minute sermon with just ONE pause :D . We sang a Mozart mass. Talking of singing, Penelope Penguin - you conjured up the vision a couple of days ago of Old Stylers joining in a celebratory chorus of Nessun Dorma for the World Cup :D Well, all I can say is, you should have been in JackieO's car on the way up to last month's OS meet in Blackpool - cos I had one of my CDs on, and Caterina and I were giving it some all the way up the M6 :D:D

It's lovely to see more people on OS who are into classical music. But PenPen I don't think you'd have much luck getting a mixed voice choir together. Everybody I've so far come across on OS who sings, is an alto. That's you, me and Ivyleaf so far :rotfl:

Shez I'm so happy you made up with DH.

No more news from PP so I can only assume she's enjoying herself on holiday!

    Rzl xx
