I store alot of my books in my shed - it's nice and dry and even has lino on the floor - well posh!
I keep my books in stackable fruit and veg boxes that you can get free from most supermarkets. They come in 2 sizes/depths, one size is good for small paperbacks stored so that the spines can be easily read, the other size is just right for the larger size paperbacks. You often see books displayed in these at boot fairs. I always go for the boxes with the triangular pillars at the corners because these are more sturdy when stacked.
When these boxes are full they are not too heavy to lift to get to the lower boxes. I stack mine about 10 high with a row each side - this leaves me with a walkway in the middle and an area to put the higher boxes when getting to a lower box. All the boxes are numbered and the number is in my SKU, although as mentioned before non PM's can use the end of their description.
I did consider renting storage when I got my first job lot but liked the idea of having my stock close by and stored for free. Having a garage for storage sounds really great - lucky youAMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0077 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board.0 -

I have quite a few books in my ebay shop (and sell more there than on Amazon) but I get best buy offers from Amazon sellers all the time, mostly they offer just a pound or so for books that are on Amazon for several pounds.

I think I will whinge. I haven't sold a book in almost two weeks.
And THAT was a £0.01 book, too.'Everyone loves to read but it can be a real nuisance when you lose your place. Here's a solution. When you finish reading a page, just tear it out. You'll save money on bookmarks too!' -- Amanda's Handy Hints, Amanda Keller. :cool:0 -

They are more likely to do this with one of the larger sellers that use automatically repricing software.
If you undercut one of these 'mega sellers' it only takes a few minutes before they undercut you (often by only 1p).
I recently price matched one of these sellers and within minutes they had undercut me, I price matched - they undercut, once I realised what was happening I surrendered and put my price back up to match the next lowest seller. Sure enough shortly afterwards the large seller was back up there at 1p less than me.
I wish I could remember who it was, I'd have a look at their stock and see if there was anything I wanted to buy for 1p :rotfl:AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0077 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board.0 -
A question for FFN - with this re-pricing software what happens if there are 2 sellers each with the same book and they each have the software, do these software programmes fight each other by reducing and reducing till the price is 1p? or is there a failsafe stop thingy to put a halt to the sillyness at some point?0

Just a quick question for one of the experts please.
I've been listing quite a few books on Amazon today - nothing spectacular...a few at 1p most at anything between £2 and £5.
However....just as I was coming to the end of my pile of childrens books I came across one where there are another 5 listed. Two are in the US and over £100, so I discounted those as a price guide. But the other 3 are all from the same UK seller at prices between £74 and £120. Their discription says it is a hard to find book.
I've checked on abebooks and the only 3 copies in the UK are the same ones by this seller on Amazon.
So my question is...What do I price my book at? Condition wise it sounds better that their cheapest one and on a par with their other two.
All advice gratefully received. Many thanks.Sell £1000 challenge - £0/£1500 - No.80

If they are reputable buyers (ie lots of feedback and at 99 or 100%) I would suggest you put in a really detailed description, and promise fast despatch (possibly first class post assuming you are a newbie with little feedback). Then price match - that will make you appear more credible and will not cause a downward spiral of the price.AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0077 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board.0 -

I've not seen it in action, only discussed on the Amazon boards, and the theory is that this can happen. I know that there is the facility to input a minimum price to the software for each item, so it would make sense that even they have their minimum price

If you're wondering why your whinge hasn't worked yet it could be because of this:
