Just found this on the RM website:

    Important Price Update
With effect from the 21st August 2006, the postage for items weighing over 1020g sent to Europe via Airmail Printed Papers will be reduced. Please see below for the new rates.

    http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?catId=400036&mediaId=400347

Might be worth a trawl through some of our stock in August to see if we can offer European sales even on some of the heavier books.

    Hi teapot2,

No the landlord insists to turn the garage into a studio so we pulled out and found another property. A better property in a nicer area with a garage. The previous landlord didn't seem to think that any laws or contracts should stop him doing what he wanted. I checked with the council and he didn't get planning permission for it and if he did apply he wouldn't have got it. But as AT said, what goes around comes around.

The frustrating thig is that i own a property up north with a big double garage that isn't in use, perfect for books. It would only take me an 8 hour round trip to collect any books stored there.

    FFM,

I have all my books stored in banana boxes. I find them the easiest to use. Not to heavy to lift and strong. I tried using the brown bread trays because the books fitted perfectly but they were too heavy once full. I think i am going to do what you do. Stack ten high all around with a walk way in the middle. I am first going to turn the bread trays over to use as a base to stack the boxes on so they aren't directly on the cement floor, to protect from Damp and allow air to curculate.

We,ve just taken the plunge and bought 1000 books off ebay which we're collecting Thursday
I am a pro merchant and I have 1200 books coming tomorrow

I just wanted to say congrats to Becky and Matt for taking the plunge and buying a pallet. Good luck, I really hope you get at least the return on your investment, but more than that I hope you are very successful. I have bought 2 pallets from ebay and am very happy with my books. It is very exciting when they arrive and you get to rummage around and see what gems you have. I keep finding books I want to read...just don't have the time!
Hey Katchambers, I'd love a copy of that list if you could get it to me. Thanks loads !
Is there a separate one for DVD's & PC games? If so, I'd love those.

Yes Ant there is a separate pre-order list for each area of amazon, so 3 pre-order lists are on the way to you now.

Having good week so far and really should have gone pro.M to start with - but hey you just never know. Right some questions for you. When your away on hols what happens to your sales?? I know you can let amazon know your dates but do your listings get suspended or can people still buy but not expect delivery till after my return?? And...... how can I tell if I've got a first edition??? I really don't know what to look for - can anyone help??? If I do go pro .M is it best to wait until I get back from my hols? (going 28july - 8th Aug) sorry about questions folks. I also took someones tip about auctions and have trawled through YP and have found a couple that might be worth a look so I'll keep you posted. Oh and Kat can I please have the other two files I have the book one just need the others - thanks Kat your a star.

Just phoned my local auctioneers and there sale is every friday, apparently they have loads of books and are in need of clearing some to make room for other stuff.
Yikes sounds like a trip down there on friday.
They had a lot of four palletts that didnt sell last week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mind you I could'nt take that many anyway, but do need to make more money for something I am saving for.
Could probably fit one in somewhere.
Plus other half would go spare if four palletts turned up lol

  • Just wondering what all the big stock holders do about insuring the stuff if it goes up in smoke etc....I have my books and ebay stuff here at home and the most I do is cross my fingers and hope nothing happens

I also have my fingers crossed.:naughty:

My stock has already paid for itself, so if the shed did burn down I would be very disappointed but at least I could take a break from packing books. I've just had a really long day at work, including 6 hours of driving and have now got to go hunting, packing and stamping - shouldn't grumble I guess.
