Can I please remind all users that we should not be suggesting that people do things that are fraudulent. A purchase from Amazon is not a gift and the correct box should be ticked.

I've edited this post because having thought about your post I feel you have been rather harsh in accusing me of being fraudulent.
When I made my first overseas sale my local Post Office showed me how to fill in the form and I have done it the same way ever since.
There is no financial gain by doing it this way and my parcels are clearly labelled that they are from a 'bookshop'.AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0077 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board.0 -

From a buyers point of view gifts have a higher limit before tax and duty becomes payable so yes there is a financial implication. If you told your post office that you were selling goods and they still said you should send it as a gift then they are wrong and are likely to be severely reprimanded should the authorities find they are advocating defrauding HM cutoms and excise.
I'm sorry if you think I am being harsh here, but do you honestly think you are sending 'gifts' to your buyers?
The sticky thread about ethics on this forum is quite clear in that we should not encourage fraudulent behaviour.

Incidentally this is a direct quote taken from the Forum Managers post.
"We're also concerned about the so called "grey areas" of eBay dealing. Examples of this include discussion of illegal actions, like marking overseas parcels 'gifts' rather than sales to prevent customs for levying a charge.
Any suggestion of these types of activities may be subject to removal."

Thank you for pointing out the finer detail of what I have been doing wrong. I do not think you needed to be so sarcastic in your response and if what I was doing was an infringement of these boards it would have been kinder to have deleted my post with the misinformation and PM'd me to let me know. My posts have been intended to help other sellers be 'good sellers' not to encourage 'fraud' or other illegal activity.
I have not read these stickies etc to which you refer, but again you could have pointed me to them in a PM.AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0077 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board.0 -
My OP made did not directly quote your post at all I merely put up my usual reminder about not promoting actions that are fraudulent. I have put up the same post on other threads over the past months.
I only responded further after you put up a justification for your understanding on the matter, at which time I pointed out in my subsequent post that this was an area that we are directly asked not to promote.

Oh dear - a little 'international' incident - FFN you are a true MSE'er now, I don't think that there are many of us on the 'ebay and other....' board that haven't had a finger wagging from Soo, I got one and ran away for months
...please don't let it deter you, Soo just has to be seen to uphold MSE principals. When she gets tough like this I just picture her as Mary Poppins, stern, firm but ultimately having everyones best interests at heart
