Hey this is a GREAT thread. I have listed some educational books I got in Borders for £1 on amazon but am having no luck.
Can I ask you all a question- I noticed a few of you were mentioning the ebay shops. I was intereasted in doing this but do your items have to be on a buy it now ? and can people find them through the normal search bar or do they have to do a specail search.I thought the items in a shop did not show up in normal searches. I would be VERY grateful if anyone could give me some advice about this.
Many thanks and good luck selling.
  • hi cat - I have an ebay shop and yes, they are buy it now sales. The ebay shops are a bit more buyer friendly than they used to be, they didn't used to show in searches at all, there was just your shop name in the column at the left and that's all.

Now your shop listing is tacked on the end of all the auction listings so it will get seen if the buyer looks right to the end of his search subject, I think that buyers have got the hang of this now.
I'd consider offering a 'best offer' because it gives the buyer a bit of a car boot sale vibe of asking for a discount, so price up a bit higher and be prepared to come down, often a buyer will just go straight for it so that's nice!

You can do lots of promotion things like having a newletter that's sent to any buyer that puts you as a favourite seller and subscribes to the newsletter, they also get an email when you list new stuff. I think that you still get 30 days free to try it out.

Hey guys - having a MOAN does work - I have sold 3 books today and I got an e-mail from a buyer who wanted to thank me personally for the great service she received (2nd class, bubble and brown paper wrapping) I was chuffed.
Was something else I wanted to ask about but for the life of me can't think what it was. I'm drowning in essays here (Open University assignment due 3rd July:eek: ) send me some writing vibes please my brain is frazzled.
    Have a good weekend

    Hi apprentice
I have about 10-15 various items that haven't sold on e-bay that are just sitting in my garage. What's your advice?? shall I set up a shop for the free trial and see what goes. My fees for this month were nearly £20 so I can't  afford to keep putting them on and hoping they sell. I might just have one last ditch attempt with the free month and then into the skip they will go - what do you think???
  • I think that it's well worth a go if you can still get the free month.

I use www.auctiva.com so I get as many free supersize photos as I want - they are so clear and so huge! this means that the listing fees for 30 days are just 3p for the listing and 5p for the gallery (I think that this is essential) it's not a gallery in the main listing like the auction ones but in your own listings.

Just a little moan to try and get things moving! Nothing sold on Amazon for a couple of days and could do with the cash
The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese
  • Ive got an ebay shop thing going, and I stuck everything on for slightly more than i would start them at on auction, but also used best offer

well out of the items i have sold, only one used best offer, and yet i would have accepted less on all of them :rotfl:

so AT - get the best offer on

plus ebay shops are free for the first month - im desperately wanting to clear as much large heavy stuff before the post office pricing in proportion comes in - i got their card thingy and its going to be very tight

btw sold a higher priced item on amazon tonight - thank you - my karma must be slowly righting itself
See the stars they’re shining bright
    Everything’s alright tonight

I find people do offer stupid best offers, but I just decline them. I had someone offer 25p on a £20 item, and another offer £1.01 on an £11 item.
