Oh, I don't think I want to stir that one up - if it's not stated then it's not a T&C - I don't want to encourage them to add it.

Most of my parcels get there next day or within 2 days so my customers are happy. If they're happy - I'm happy :j

Well I am going back to second class then! I shall scream if it gets me bad feedback after everyone else having success with it - still it is worth a try and will save some dosh. Thanks FFM.

Once you've finished screaming  call customer services and ask them to remove it - they have never refused me (so far), so long as it is quite clear that it is the postage charge the customer is moaning about.

  • OK - I've read all the posts and had a bit of a think... I'm going to stay with 1st class because I can't be swayed from the idea that my book with 'same day dispatch' and '1st class' in the description is gong to have the edge on one that hasn't.
I know that it's hit and miss whether 2nd class would get there just as quick but the buyer, when offered 2 indentical books will make up his mind just on the words used by the seller, that's the only way he can differentiate.

It's purely a personal opinion and I know that I'm in the minority with this one but as FFN said I'm with the 'older' Amazon sellers that were told that it must be 1st class and can't shake it off.

I post 2nd class most of the time.

Larmy, what do you package your items in? You said you don't use jiffys.

I have four large boxes of books here to list. I was sorting them out into Amazon, Green Met and Charity. The first handful were worth sod all then I found one to list for £20. Woooohoooooo!!!!!! I know it may not sell but I was excited to see something to list for more than 1p. Fingers crossed for some treasures in amongst the rest.

  • firstly in answer to posting - i tend to send things first class too - i prefer to keep customers as happy as possible and for most items we arent talking too much extra but for heavier cheaper items i will see whats cheapest

then i tried my hand today at buying from a charity shop for resale - two things i realised:

a - dont take small toddler who wants to buy half the items there - it will cost you more in the long run

b - i havent got a clue and the things i bought arent worth as much on amazon :rotfl: such is my luck

but i was disgusted to discover that one of the shops i went to had had a couple of dvd's stolen today - they were only put on the shelves this morning - how can people live with themselves?? woolies is only over the road if they were that desperate - at least it isnt taking from the more needy

I always post 2nd class in UK. Printed papers (airmail) internationally. They always arrive within a couple of days. 4 days to USA, and 4 days to Oz.
I have used Special delivery for books sold for £50. I know I don't have to, but it means I can prove reciept, and have compensation if something went wrong.
    So far it's all good.
Listed a book yesterday for £300. If it sells I will cry.
I now have 1332 books listed on Amazon and 150 on GM. Not sold anything on GM yet. I am a bit sad about that, but it was only books I couldn't put on Amazon, so not to worry.

    Hi

I bought a huge roll of that foam underlay for wooden floors B&Q 9.99 and blueish/grey binliners from the pound shop, cut to size, brown tape etc with a printed label, and return label. They look quite smart and are waterproof. I sometimes use brown paper as outer wrapping too. My pound shop jiffys work out 25p each which is a bit steep for cheapie books. With more expensive items I may splash out and send it in a jiffy bag!:)

I tend to send 2nd class unless its an expensive book. I've not yet had an overseas or European buyer. I say in the listing that I post next working day [don't say first or second] and I suspect that some people may buy because of this if they are in a hurry?? 'Cos sometimes there have been cheaper books than mine described as in better condition....................

My whinge last night worked - sold a book 2day, only £4.70 before posting but I bought it second hand years ago so its been around

Inspired me to look out some more items to list have about 92 at the moment so thought I'd get it up to 100. Too tired to do the lisitng but had a look via ISBNs and checked out some old cds and there are some decent priced ones.

    Happy selling
