Where can I find out about pricing In proportion. I've looked on tha Amazon help pages, but haven't been able to find anything.0

Hi ffm - I know that I'm wild and reckless with the 1st class post but I have that in my listings as my 'beat the opposition' sales pitch, I'll never really know if that is the difference between selling a book or not selling it but I assume it must mean something to the buyer...0

I take your point, I also used to have FIRST CLASS DESPATCH in my listings, I now used SAME DAY DESPATCH. Like you I'll never know if that is what makes my books sell before other sellers or not.
I think there are a combination of things, including the UK SELLER - that's an absolute must in my book. I also think that having a full description of the book, warts and all, helps the buyer decide if they want your book. I often sell before cheaper books with no description that are also apparently in a better condition - but with no description the buyer cannot be 100% sure of what they will get - one sellers 'excellent' can be anothers sellers 'acceptable' but a book with a creased spine is 'a book with a creased spine'.AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0077 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board.0 -
I draw the line at 1st class post with books over 1k - I post heavy ones as a standard parcel but I still have 'UK seller and same day dispatch' in the description so it still might have the edge over someone elses0

apprentice_tycoon wrote:Hi verystressedmummy, I think that your video set might be cheaper when pricing in proprtion comes in - I just did a little experiment with my post receipt from yesterdays Amazon packets - there were 11 (that's because of my new intake of books, I don't normally have 11 sales over the weekend) these were all posted 1st class - I compared what I paid yesterday with what I will pay in August. There were 2 increases and 9 decreases in the prices but the one substantial decrease was a book weighing 1k, I paid £3.89 to post yesterday, with the new prices it looks to be £2.70 - maybe your video set will come into that weight category?
Crutches - Welcome to the thread :hello: come back and let us know how you go on
edit -as a further experiment next time I have a CD or DVD I'm going to pack it how I normally do in a Maillite jiffy and see if it will go through the slot measure thingy that they've just put on the counter - on the website they say that the large letter rate will cover CDs and DVDs but it might be a squash to get it through the slot....
.
Thanks AT - they said £3.85 2nd and £3.89 1st, will be good if the postage goes down. I had three Angel video box sets, I've only got one left now. I'm quite surprised they sold - I thought fans would be buying the DVDs.
Re post I usually send second class, a lot of them seem to get there the next day, but I've had first class take ages to get there. I put 'same or next working-day' in my listings, generally if I get the email before mid afternoon I can get them posted the same day, but I can't guarantee it as it depends if I can get my kids ready and out to the post office:rolleyes:AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0022 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the Ebay and other auctions, Car Boot and Jumble Sales Board0 -
I post 2nd class unless I'm delayed going to the PO in which case I'll post 1st class.
I sold an item yesterday at around 8pm but because my DD is ill with Tonsillitis I can't get to the PO til Thursday (That's the earliest I can get a family member to look after her unless she returns to school earlier), I put will post within 24 hours on my listing but I have emailed the buyer & they have responded saying Thursday is fine.
I have also had a sale at around 4am this morning so I've emailed them too but so far had no reply from them, if they say Thursday is too late I will just refund them straight away.
Both of these, and anymore that sell in the meantime, will be posted 1st class to make up for the delay.2023 wins - Rice Krispies, Avene Micellar Gel, Barbie Toy, £20 Apple Gift Card, KFC 6 piece bargain bucket, Chloe Nomade perfume, Barbie Toy (second one), Sanctuary Spa Sleep Balm, E45 Moisturising Lotion, Trolls Hamper, 12 Tonie Characters, Sure deodorant, Good Home Utensil holder, £5 Costa Gift Card, Neutrogena Micellar Jelly, Soap & Glory Mascara, Persil capsules,0 -
2nd class for me all the way, it always gets there just as quick!0

I'm doing a bit of a survey here - I don't want to waste money on 1st class if it's not needed so
I think that if a buyer is trying to decide between 2 books that are in seemingly the same condition and at the same price they are going to go for the one that promises 'same day, 1st class dispatch' even if mine is slightly higher in price I assume that my book will sell first
I think that putting this in the listing will make the sale, am I deluded? if you view this as a buyer how would you choose?
feedback please Amazon gang - tell me if I'm wasting money, yesterdays post office total for 11 Amazon items was £15.99, if I'd chosen 2nd class it would have been £13.27.0 -
