  • I'm on a legacy contract and although I renewed at £10 a month with 3 months free, in the free period they upped my monthly fee up to £13, how are you guys getting it for £9.50?
  • Hi all, my contract ended in dec 2010 and havent phoned up to request retention deal as i didnt know you could do that doh.. So presumably my contract was renewed for another 12 months and is due to finish in dec this year.

Im paying 9.50 on one of the older deals (used to be 7.50 as im o2 customer)

Would i be eligible to phone and ask them for a better deal? and if so would it be from dec this year?

How are people getting £50 off? what is the best deal i could be offered?

    TIA

Well, I just phoned to change the O2 mobile number associated with my broadband account and without any prompting from me was offered a new 12 month contract on my current standard package with 6 months free. Effectively £7.25 a month before any mobile discount has been subtracted.

I have had this confirmed by e mail too.

Your contract has been extended to 01/11/2012 and your loyalty reward of First 6 months free on O2 HBB Standard 12 month product will now be applied

    A result as I wasn't considering changing.

See my post 134 above. I was on the same package as you and told there was a current offer when I phoned. I didn't need to move to one of the newer packages either. Well worth a try.

  • Hello,
Can I ask you some questions please?
Do you have only broadband with them or phone+broadband.
How much you are paying effectively (including all discounts and what are they)?
What is download speed you get?

I have O2 phone and broadband with them I also have mobilephone with them.
I was not offered much by them :(
    Cheers

  • At the moment you could get 3 months free (the zero zilch offer) just by signing up for another 12 months, which can be done online by logging into your account

1 I have an O2 mobile on a £5 month text only deal.
2 My broadband (no home phone) is a £14.50 legacy package less £5 month for having an O2 mobile = £9.50.
3 My new 12 month contract is 6 months free and then £14.50 for the remaining 6 months. Assuming I keep my O2 mobile I expect to be paying £9.50 for the remaining 6 months however, even if I don't get that additional £5 discount it is a good deal for me.
4 I'm quite a way from the exchange so my download is around 3 meg which is fast enough for most things. The main thing is that it is reliable with only 1 instance without service, for a few hours, over 4 years I have been with them.

As I had been with O2 for over 2 years I was told I was eligible for this 6 months free offer. Hope this helps

I take it O2 Home Broadband Standard = "Legacy package"? It says "usage allowance unlimited" when I log on to the broadband page.

Still paying £14.50/mth as I no longer have an O2 mobile. Moved to giffgaff as it met my needs then. Just being lazy and also wary of signing on to a 12month contract if they'll change my package to something crappy. It's been swell so far, don't want to lose it.

Yes, the older standard package with unlimited allowance not one of the current offerings. I have an e mail confirming that I stay on that package.

I've just finished my first year with O2 LLU plus BT line rental, so I've been on a new type package. I've not had a single problem, a steady 5.8/6.0 download on 49db att. Currently £8.50/mth with paygo mobile.

What sort, if any, retention deals have customers been getting for the new style basic packages?

The only niggles have been the severe traffic management on the odd occasion I use BBC i-player or ITV player, and the sometime use of P2P runs at the dire 5.6KB/sec.

Sky LLU is available with X months free and Topcash, or BT Infinity has just become available, but I don't really need the estimated 29mbps.
    Move along, nothing to see.
