I was just wondering what deals people on the Premium package (£10pm as a mobile user) were getting?

Just phone them and ask the question, it's free, 0800 380 0402, I had no problem getting 3 months free for re-signing for 12 months, no threats, no arguments..:)
  • Wow, just came across this thread by pure chance. I had no idea I could haggle on my home broadband contract! Seems there is still much to learn for this MSEr. Thanks a lot, guys! I've been 'out of contract' with o2 now for almost a year, and never thought of ringing them, as I was so content with the service, I just left it be!

I've been an O2 PAYG mobile customer for 6 years. Finally going to make the transition to contract next Thursday when purchasing an iphone 4 from O2.

My O2 broadband is now up for renewal....I've been paying 7.50 a month... what is the best deal I could get? Thanks for your help guys
  • I'm almost out of contract so phoned o2 today and was offered £2.50 per month discount (off the Standard tariff for which I pay £7.66 a month). I then got an email saying I would get a £4.89 monthly discount. Be interesting to see what appears on my bill, but I'm happy wither way.

I would be more concerned that by accepting a new contract you have been moved onto the new trafiic managed tariffs.

I double checked that I haven't (the rep even recommended staying on the old tariff because of the cap on usage on the newer tariffs). My account page shows the renewal processed on the original tariff. Thanks for the heads up though.

Glad you were aware of it - a few have been moved and cannot get back.

That worries me i pay £7.50ish.. But download a lot between the family. Iplayer and Youtube....

Hundreds of gigs a month, Looks like the new plans dont allow that. Not for £7.50 anyway.

I don't know why people are agreeing to 12m contracts with just £2.50 off as a bit of fish bait.

I am on O2 premium (legacy package) with my broadband up in Sept 2011. I plan to ask for a deal as good as if not better than what New o2 customers are getting. This is common sense loyalty should be rewarded better than no loyalty if not i'll be off to Be Broadband for better speeds, truly unlimited untraffic managed broadband. Anyway...

See this thread on o2's forums where a user has reported staying on a legacy, rolling contract with 6 months free....

Can't post link - go to o2 broadband and home phone and search for topic "o2 retentions closed" which should be on the first page at time of writing.

What users on old packages (packages signed more than 3 months ago) should be aiming for:

    - Staying on legacy packages (A MUST to avoid traffic management and FUP)
    - Minimum 3 months off broadband (may only offer this on a new 12m contract but push to stay on rolling contract with months off)
    - Try and stay on a rolling contract as it offer's more room for "threatening" to leave in 6 months time and getting more discount, Or if Fibre optic becomes available in before 12 months time and you want to switch without cancelling payments.

As always take down names of people spoken to, times of calls and ask for confirmation in either email or written letter.

    Hope this helps people

I have been an O2 broadband customer for years. I just agreed with retentions to stick with them for 12 more months, switching from a legacy package to one of the new packages.

As part of the deal they sent me a new Wireless Box IV router, I already had a wirelessBox II router from them.
I received no return box or bag in my new pack.

What happens to the old Wirelessbox II, can I keep/sell it?

    Thanks
