  • hi
ive been with 3g PAYG since october last year. the phone i had was the nec e228 and experienced lots of problems with the reception, drop calls, freezing on menu, switching off randomly. but for some odd reason the video calling worked every time. i would say its not the best network yet has fair bit to go. I've recently upgraded to a contract and got the Motorola V975. this phone is excellent i had no problems as yet (touch wood) reception is fine connects first time, recieves call without interuption, and the phone looks nice too. i just think that as the phones are improving so are 3G. i would rate it 6 / 10   :rotfl:

    where do i start...

    motorola e1000
keeps packing up been sent away 3 times in 7 months, has a battery life of about 1 day if you dont use it.

mostly used around devon area, calls constantly dropped or going straight to answer phone even with a full signal

by far the worst customer service i have ever come across from any company let alone a phone company

phone went wrong first week in july (battery not holding charge)
rang them to get it collected, call lasted 45 mins
sent for repair, returned with exactly the same fault.
2nd week in july phone died completley,
rang them again, call lasted 55 mins
    sent for repair again.
this time they wrote it off and sent me a replacement, this one had a large crack across the screen and no screws holding it together.
refused to accept it and it was returned, rang them to complain, spoke to 8 differant people and was on line for over an hour
3 days later it came back this time it was screwed together but still had the large crack across the screen.
phoned them again this time i demanded to speak to a manager who had some authority, took them 45 mins to find one, told him i had reported them to trading standards and unless i got a replacement phone of decent quality i would take them to court,
i refused to send the old one back until i was happy with the replacement.
4 days later a brand new one arrived,
the old phone is still at home, ive rung them 3 time to come and get it but even that seems to difficult for them.

on 6 seperate occasions over the past 8 months i have been told someone would call me back, they never have.
i was promised some credit on my bill because it was away so much, it took 4 phone calls to get that sorted out.
my june bill never arrived, it took 3 calls to sort out a replacement, this was after they told me that it had arrived and i was just lying.

i have a friend who works for them and he told me not to go with them but i was tempted by the cheap contract, he gets a free phone with free calls from them and yet the still bought an orange phone because he has so much trouble.

still only 4 months to go

  • I'm looking for a good upgrade and I can't help notice the cheap offers from 3, but it seems that from this thread there is 50% happy and 50% p***ed off customers, and I'm worried I might end up like one of the unhappy customers.

I'm currently with vodafone, having carried on for 6 months after the original 12 month contract and the bills have got expensive. For example, 200 inclusive mins and 50 texts @ £30pm and sometimes I go over a couple of times whilst calling another network and the bill will be in the £40's pm.

I want a top notch nokia phone, so the 6680 looks appealing, but I don't know whether to wait and see if the nokia n70 (the 6680's more intelligent brother) will be on 3.

I could ring vodafone to see if they'll upgrade but I can't see them offering much of a reduction in line rental compared to 3's offers of say £15pm for all those mins and texts and the same phone.

I'm in and around liverpool/merseyside and was wondering if anyone has had any dropped call problems with thier nokia 6680.

Also, what's this I've just read about not being able to browse the web with 3. Does that mean even if I got an internet browser application installed on the phone I couldn't get a connection to the WAP or 3G equivilent?

Can anyone recommend any reliable, cheap places to get the deals like onestopphoneshop, dialaphone or cpw? I've been looking all week but are there any really good deals I've missed? The best deal I've seen is nokia 6680 with 500mins and 100 texts @ £16pm (equvilent after cashback) for 12 months, from onestopphoneshop.

    Thanks for any feedback.

  • Please please please can somebody help me, Im at the end of my tether and am about to burst out crying.

Im having trouble with my 3 phone aswel, same problems as other people seem to have had, its 6 months into my contract and i just dont know what to do.

It drops calls all the time, my boyf is in Iraq and his calls are very short and not very often, its so upsetting to loose his call 2 mins into the conversation.

It switches itself off and the screen freezes all the time and its the Motorolla A1000, the little button on the front keeps falling off.

I called Bombay to ask if i could renew my contract for another year now and get the nokia 6680 instead as i cant cope with this handset any longer. The lady told me that i couldnt do that but that they could collect the handset and try and fix it. I told her that i need the phone so my boyfriend can contact me while he is in "the sandpit" and i really cant not have any phone for 3 days. i would need a replacement, she said that was all they can do.

I really really dont know what to do now, i just feel like im paying for something that is worthless.

Does anyone have a copy of a letter to send to head office or an idea of what i could write to them as im really bad at letter writing.

Thanks in advance TD xxxxx cry cry cry

Get another cheap mobile on payg from ebay and use that for your boyfriend to call you & get the motorola repaired.
    OR
Buy a nokia 7600 on ebay - cheap and in my experience reliable phone (if a little big!)
  • I have just bought the nokia 6680 off ebay (ahhhh £170!!!) i was so rattled by 3 i think i got spend happy! But at least it will work. When it arrives ill send the A1000 in to be fixed and then sell it on ebay to recoup a little bit of the money.

Thanks Darren for your reply, much appreciated!
  • 3 are an absolute joke. Their coverage is terrible and customer services (entirely based in India) are a waste of time.

This link shows the coverage for each network across the UK. Look at the coverage for 3 compared to 02 or Vodaphone. It's ridiculous.

    Hi

It would be interesting to know what handset you have on 3.
I have been with 3 for nearly 3 years and have used a number of handsets and have to say the Nokia 6680 is an excellent phone that seems to work on the 3 network, i haven't dropped a call in 4 months
There was a lot of issues with handsets that to be honest weren't up the job LGs i'm not to sure about the recent two models but the others were rubbish.
3 defaults onto the o2 network for 2g calls so it should be pretty solid and the coverage you mentioned should therefore be pretty good.
And as for customer services they're not all based in India quite a few are based in Scotland whilst 3 have had major issues, i'm also with T mobile i believe a lot of there problems were/are due to the fact they didn't test the handsets enough before lanuching.

    2. They refused to accept until very late that some handsets didn't work.

    3. Lg might not have been up to the job.
