I have a nokia 6680, and when i use it in my home, the 3G reception is low 0-3 bars.
Doesnt really bother me as i dont use any of the 3G services.
BUT IT DOES BOTHER ME WHEN IT SWITCHES FROM 3G MODE TO 2.5G MODE (to get a better reception)
IT DROPS MY CALLS!
Also when my 3g signal is low, it takes me 2-3 attempts to actually connect.
But its fine when the signal is in 2.5g mode.
To be honest, if the service doesnt improve in the next 6 months in my area i will be going back to vodafone. But the three prices are soooooo good is it worth putting up with these niggles?0 -
I live & work in Birmingham area.
I have a Nokia 6680 and its fine. No dropped/lost calls, signal is good. Don`t use the 3g facility. The customer service is a little ropey to say the least.
8 out of 10.0 -
My advice to anyone thinking of joining 3 or due an upgrade is to go for one of the Nokia handsets, e.g 6680/6630/N70/6280. These handsets perform 10% better than any other in the 3 range at holdig the network. I previously had a Motorola A1000 which gave me no problems. However, when i put it side by side with a 6680 in my living room the reception on the Nokia was significantly better. Nearly everywhere I go i recieve 3g coverage with the Nokia.0

If you can get the deals on other networks though surely it's not worth settling for second best?0

Hi ! I have been with 3 for a fortnight now and I am very pleased with the service and reception (live in North Norfolk, previously Orange was awful). I seem to remember that you can call abroad for 4/5 p a minute by a different number that 3 accepts.
Anyone remembers how?
Thank you-esse quam videri-0 -
Region: Southeast London (Lewisham, Catford)
Phone: Nokia 6630 & SE k608i
I got one of the great CPW line rental offers (think it was 9 months free) and only use the phone at home to call other mobiles (don't use parent phone line). Reception is perfect, I used it for one month using all my 500 mins and haven't had a drop call once, and never had it switch to 2G. 6630 gave me a high pitch noise which I didn't like, but having so many sim cards I needed to get an unlocked phone - so I bought the K608i - which didn't have the high pitch noise. From my house I rate the reception and quality of line at the moment as:
3...... 9/10
Easymobile 8/10
O2..... 2/10 (good enough for texts, horrible for calls)
Orange.... 10/10 (best quality line for me, and currently have a student contract of 30mins +1000texts for £15/month)
T-Mobile 8/10
Virgin 9/10
Vodaphone 9/10
Having used all the networks I will be sticking to 3 and Orange. I only have my orange contract now because I get 1000 free texts.
I've called customer service once and it was fine, they sorted my problem out in a few mins.
The only negative comment is regarding the phone. If it runs out of battery and I need to make a call I have to charge it for an hour first - as it does not charge quick enough to supply the battery with amount I use when calling. So I need to make sure I never have the battery less than a 1/3 charged.
I also don't really like many of the phones too much due to their size, but as I only use it at home at the moment this isn't too much of a problem. However, as I understand it, there will be some really nice ones coming out next year, so I shall wait and see!0 -
I got the U880 on Friday by upgrading to VideoTalk 900 for 18 months (750 anytime cross network mins, 150 texts per month) which is normally £40 per month. This is the lowest tariff in-store that you can get the phone for free. Online the lowest tariff is VideoTalk 750, either 12/18 month at £35 per month, although this is for new customers....
However, even if upgrading it's half price rental for 6 months (ie £20), and then after that time you can downgrade - indeed the lovely folks in the 3Point in the Superdrug I went to actually suggested this !
So essentially got a £220 phone for £30, cost spread over 6 months
You need photo ID (passport) plus up to date utility bill. Girly pink one out next week, black and silver out now.
Great phone - much, much, much quicker than my old 8110. No foibles discovered yet...
The phone is slimmer than the soon come Motorola on 3, and even the 3 sales staff are all saying they prefer the LG to the Motorola (they've seen it at a sales conference). Looks very good in black too....0 -
My wife's 12 month contract on talk and text 600 finished recently and she called for her PAC number last Thursday.
They offered her the lgu880 for free on the same tariff for 18 months, first 6 months half price (£15/mnth) and £150 credit in month 13. She got the phone on Monday.
It is much slimmer than the lgu8120 she had before, but about the same size otherwise (but without the antenna).
I hope that info helps anyone else looking for an upgrade on 3.0
