  • Joe, I hope that's not the case, because I'm planning on doing the same thing next month. I was sold a contract five months ago on the understanding that the phone was free if I kept my £40 tariff for six months. After which time, I could change to any other tariff.

Mind you, I'm counting the months until I can get shot of 3, because their service has been appalling. They sold me their video add-on bundle when I signed up at The Link, with the understanding that I could cancel it at any time. After phoning 3 recently to remove the add-on, they told me that as I bought it from a shop, I was signed up for a minimum six months, whereas if I'd phoned 3 and asked them to add the bundle, I could've had it for any amount of time

Also I was told in the shop that photo messaging was included in the free text allowance (i.e. one photo message uses up three of the free texts). I since discovered that this was not true.

Rest assured, I'm counting the days until June 2006 when I can cancel this lousy contract - as long as they've not tied me in to an 18-month contract or something

(Incidentally, does any of the above give me a get-out clause on my contract, because they've broken terms of service or something?)

  • Unfortunately not. Knowing them, that probably means they've put the prices up without telling me :D
  • Hi!
I've had my year on three and have had too many problems with the service to want to keep using it. (Poor signal and the handset saying service unavailable even when there is lots of signal and I never use the 3G services.)

Having said that I think over the year things have got better. I was also amazed when my handset 'went strange' the guy in India, diagnosed the problem as a firmware one and arranged for the handset to be replaced, even though it was 11 months old and I'd cancelled the contract a couple of days before. That's pretty good customer service!

    Regards

    Kevin
  • i have a Nokia 6630 on three and live in london and have never had any problems. London is pretty well covered by three. I find reception is better than on my vodaphone sony erricson s700i phone that i have.
  • Some of the problems were in London; my girlfriend lived in Tottenham and the reception at her house was horrible, my parents live in Wembley and the reception's a bit ropey there too. :-)

Having said that I think things are improving, but not quickly enough for me.

From what i heard it was non nokias that let 3 down with calls dropping etc, i had a 6680 and used it for 4 months without dropping calls and found reception to be really good, on a par with vodafone where i am.

  • Seems good around M25 and in Essex, Kent and London

In my experience, 3 now generally works OK in the south east, but not as good as Orange further north.
    Doesn't 3 default to O2 if the 3 signal isn't strong enough?
