  • Phone: LG u8130 - absolutely no problems
    Contract: 12 month contract 500mins 100 texts
    From: e2save - £3.99 a month for 12 months - cash back at 6 and 12 months + £50 automatically after 1 month (which I have already recieved)

I've been with 3 since May this year and touch wood it's been absolutely fine - I would and do recommend to all of my friends. I live in SW London and reception has NEVER been a problem. I've been to places in the country where my friends are on Orange and have no reception but I have.
I have only ever had 2 dropped calls, when I was on the phone driving down the motorway (naughty!). A TINY TINY bit annoying, but I am paying £48 for the year with 500mins and 100texts. So I'll get over it!
Customer services are in India and they don't always understand what you're saying which can be frustrating, but again, for £48 I don't care! Got my deal at e2Save and they price matched https://www.just3g.co.uk.
Already got part of the cash back back.
Oh yea and the phone is fine - battery life not quite as good as my old nokia 6230, but honestly good for 48 hours with several calls/playing games/texting. It never crashes, the camera's fine, etc....NO PROBLEMS! Maybe I got lucky.....

i heard some good and bad info about 3 network. some friends say it so bad that even just walking around the house they get dropped calls, others tell me they have had little probs.

i live in NE england in newcastle area. anyone advise what the coverage is like in this area. Also the prices are just to good to be true..dont understand how they do vs other network providers.

    Handset: Nokia 6630

Most commonly used location: Home (at least until I get my O2 number ported)

Ease and reliability and connection: Fine from my Home, excels just like O2 and T-Mobile. Orange is really rubbish round our area, after they "had to" turn down one of their transmitters

Any other problems: Apart from not being able to access outside WAP, which I am disgusted with and have emailed them telling them I intend to cancel unless its rectified (I probably wont but lets have them worry!!, though I am still within the 14 day period of grace with CPW) its been excellent. I have tried calling customer services 3 times (once I gave up, the other 2 times I didnt have to even wait at all) the english is a bit patchy but you get by. The line rental with cashback works out at £7.50 PM so no problems with the price and I love my Nokia 6630

Overall service and rating (out of 10): If WAP is sorted 9, otherwise 6

I started with an NEC 606 which broke within a couple of days but the replacement was fine and was handled in the Carphone Warehouse shop.
After 12 months I was offered an upgrade and I'm now on the NEC 338 which had to be replaced recently but was collected and returned to me while I was away from home on Hoy, Orkney. Fortunately I had the old phone with me so was able to use it while the other was away.
I find the coverage in West Yorkshire very good and I regularly use it between Yorkshire and Orkney with little problem. The areas where I have difficulty are areas where all mobile phones have problems - Scottish Highlands and Orkney.
I only use it for calls and the occasional text - it was the voice calls that attracted me not all the video stuff.
I have found customer services helpful.
My only gripe is the offers of free 12 month and 6 month contracts that I keep seeing when I am paying £25 a month!!
    I would award 8/10.

HANDSET: NOKIA 6680 3 WEEKS OLD
MOST COMMONLY USED AREA: S.E LONDON
CONTRACT: 6 MONTHS HALF PRICE LINE RENTAL £50 CASHBACK AND A BLUETOOTH HEADSET- DIRECT FROM FREE, THEY ALSO CANCELLED THE REMAINING SIX MONTHS ON THE PREVIOUS CONTRACT.

I have been with 3 about 2 years now and have had nightmares like a LOT of other people, a lot of that was to do with the handsets as opposed to the network (please bear in mind some handsets work and some clearly don't) The LG range is generally regarded as a NO NO by most people, I have had a u8120,u8130 and a u8138 and there were all terrible the Nokia 6680 and 6630 seem to have restored my faith in 3, used both with no problems at all,I was so worried about drpping calls that i even downloaded the software to lock my phone to the 02 network so far i haven't had to use it.

Don't get me wrong i feel 3 have a lot to answer for the customer service as laughable, but i do get a bit annoyed when i read comments like 'well it only costs xxx amount per month so if it's not that good it doesn't matter, haven't these people noticed that 3 have forced other providers to lower there charges, will 02,orange ,T mobile, Virgin and Vodaphone now start dropping calls and have really bad customer service?.
I also have a contract with T mobile where i pay £3.99 per month for 750 off peak minutes and 50 texts and the service is great. STOP THINKING CHEAP CALLS = BAD SERVICE,demand a better service and if your still with 3 and have dodgy handset demand a Nokia 6680 or 6630.

It would good to get some feedback from Nokia owners around the country.
    Thanks

    Handset: Nokia 7660 (teardrop shape)
Most commonly used area: NW England
Contract: (via Dialaphone) 12 month (sept 04 - sept 05) Videotalk 500 (500 free anytime any network minutes..no texts) Got a free bluetooth headset too. Cost £25.00 per month via DD, but got cashback (quick payers) which drops average monthly cost to £9.99. Additionally recommended 5 mates and got £20 into my bank account for each of them, so all in all, it has cost me £20 in real terms for the year.

Ease and Reliability and Connection: Prior to 3, I was with 02. The anytime minutes swung it for me initially and Ive never gone over my 500, although I do use the moneysaving expert 'simply-phone' to dial abroad and get charged for it (still reasonable so havent complained...approx 10p per minute to call Oz!) I was expecting to get lots of dropped calls and have probs with the handset, but was very pleasantly surprised. I did have cause to speak to cust servs on one occasion but they sorted it out over the phone and I was well satisfied. Had no dropped calls and would recommend 3 to anyone. I wasnt entirely keen with my choice of phone, but that was my own fault. I still get strange looks when I get it out (the phone that is!hehe) and its not the easiest to use but it does have a good mp3 player on it...and you can use the mp3s as ring tones which can save you a fortune and get a few laffs around the office. I have just signe up again with 3 (direct with 3 this time) and got a Sony 680i. The new deal is for 18 months...6 months at £12.50, 6 months at £25 and the last 6 months free AND I can upgrade to any other 3 phone after 12 months. I dont have to worry about sending any cashback vouchers in now!

Old Faithful we roam the range together,
Old Faithful in any kind of weather,
When the round up days are over,
And the Boulevard’s white with clover,
For you old faithful pal of mine.
Giddy up old fella cos the moon is yellow tonight,
Giddy up old fella cos the moon is mellow and bright,
There’s a coyote crying at the moon above,
Carry me back to the one I love,
And you old faithful pal of mine.

    Handset: Motorolas:A835 (no more), E1000, V925

    Most commonly used location:Poole/Bournemouth

Ease and reliability and connection:A835 like having a brick in ur pocket, early failure of navigator nipple;really bad reception, dropped frequently (even when showing good sig); I must say that (nuttin 2 do wiv 3) that the moto's predictive text beats the pants off all my previous nokias.
E1000 neat, generally seems good and reliable - although the charger connection is very iffy, seems a feature of all my motos - only drops calls in similar weak situations to other nets.
V925 neat, reliable, connection as good as E1000, same charger problem, and top keys very fiddly to use - prone to mistakes.

Any other problems:for about 10 days none of the phones would receive in the local cell that covers home, except if you had made an outgoing and the channel was open then incomings worked! It took 7 days before the indian call centreagreed that the fault was with the cell not the phone.
3 customer service isn't; they seem to want to know everything except your inside leg measurement and blood group! then you have to repeat every thing as you get passed around the technically inept staff , working, I guess, from an idiot sheet flow diagram. I knew more than they did on all but one support call. At least its free to call, whereas dialaphone the supplier uses 0870...

Overall service and rating: customer service= 1/10, network service=7/10
  • I have spent yesterday and today writing emails and complaint letters to Three. After having already sent my phone back for repair just a few months ago, I have been experiencing more technical problems. I rang Three and surprisingly quickly and efficiently they offered a free upgrade which would have been with me after a couple of days.

My partner waited in all day for it not to turn up and when I rang to chase them the problems started. They expected me to track&trace the delivery myself, turned out it had been delivered to the wrong address. Registered it with the police and rang Three to get another phone sent. Having to use the 0870 number from the home phone because the mobile doesn't work!!! Got passed around & around & around (you get the idea!!) being told the same thing over and over with no-one bothering to try and help. It's now been over two weeks I have been without a working mobile phone and Three couldn't care less!! It was an 18mth contract and I'm 7mths in but I am paying this last bill and then cancelling everything with them! I would not be a customer of Three's if they paid me!!!!!!!
