    Hello,

I've just called Barclays on +44 1642 332308 and I'm told that my application has been approved (online said that they needed more 'info').

The call has been hilarious at best! I know I'll regret my choice the day I will need to contact customer service!:rotfl:

Giruzz: I've applied for a card online but I don't know the status of my application. Can you please let me know if it as been approved or declined?
Operator: Sure. Can I have your card number?

Operator: In order to complete the security checks I will need your middle name
    giruzz: I don't have a middle name
Operator: Thank you! All the security checks have been completed.

Operator: I can confirm that card has been sent
giruzz: Are you going to send the card by post or by courier?
Operator: I can confirm that card has been sent but before you can use it you'll have to call us to have it activated
giruzz: I understand. Are you going to send by Royal Mail or Secure mail?
Operator: The card has been sent....

Someone mentioned it left a 'footprint' on Equifax, I am curious just to see what the pre-approval would come up with but don't need a card at the moment and don't want to make it harder to get one in 9 or so months when I will need one.

    So.....

Got a nice, white Initial card in the post today, with a surprisingly high (for me) 2k limit :j.

Thanks to the OP, as hadn't it been for the link you posted I would've never tried for a Barclaycard:beer:.

    No problem mate;)
  • Did a check on it got 90+ plus on the initial and got a 80-90% on other cards, inc the Goldfish. Might have to go for the Cashback one after Citi cut their card to 0.25% from October even though it wasn't on the list. I see it is a Mastercard and not a Visa too- has Barclaycard moved to using Mastercard?

Well done! I've got an email saying that the limit was 400 (which is 300 higher than the one I have now with CapitalOne). Very happy with that as today I received a 3.25k limit with a 0% Tesco Card!!!

I really wanted this Barclays because is PayWave and I'll be using it a lot in the office's cafeteria!

MasterSimit: Have you got the card by normal mail or by SMS or DX ?

Thanks to the OP for the link!

    Regards
  • Did the check as I wanted to BT. It came up with Platinum, 0% for 12 months, 2.5% fee, or Simplicity 6.8% LOB no fee, both with 70 to 80% chance of acceptance.

On checking both 'suitable for' they state debt on CC to be less than 10% of income. I am currently running at about 20% over two cards hence wanting to BT.

Will this mean rejection do you think if I apply?

It looks like the credit check is just that with no comparison to income even though it is asked for on the form.

On the suitable for for goldfish it says income over 20k, mine isn't and I was still accepted so I think they are just guidelines.

I applied last night and got the need more info response.

Has anyone been declined one of the more favourable cards and offered the initial card as the chances of getting that were higher?

I won't apply for it separately but I suppose I could use it for purchases and pay all off each month, thus avoiding using one I am already paying interest on.

I had a card that I'd had for at least 15 years, used regularly and paid lots of interest, I cleared the balance ready to BT (after being phoned and emailed about it) and they (not Barclaycard) cancelled it with 30 days notice. Perhaps this will go against me, although it wasn't on my CC file at all.

Oh well, wait and see I suppose.
