  • Dear forum members,

We’ve seen some posts here on Mobile Rainbow and would like to put certain issues in perspective.

Mobile Rainbow is one of the brands owned by MSols Ltd., a company incorporated in March’2001. MSols also owns other brands (3mobileshop, Orangemobileshop etc). As the company trades only online, different brand names and different websites help in promoting the products.

There has been some scepticism regarding Mobile Rainbow’s ability and willingness to pay cash-backs. We’d like to point out that all customers who have fulfilled the T&C at the time of their purchase have been paid. Off late we’ve introduced the process of intimating the customers, through text messages, once the cash-back has been paid into their accounts.

So far as the ability to pay is concerned, MSols has very sound financials. The company posted a turnover of £1.66 m with a profit of about £48,000 for the year ending 31st March’ 06. The paid-up share capital of the company is £116,300. These figures can be verified from the Companies house site.

Our first cycle of cashback started in Feb-March’ 06 so we do understand the apprehension that some customers might have had. We hope that these have been put to rest now and wish that more people come forward to share their positive experiences also.
  • Am I to believe that only 8 people on this forum have chosen to purchase a contract package from Mobile Rainbow over the past year? While they are a relatively new outfit I find that hard to believe, especially given the amount of discussion about this retailer that exists on this forum.

Come on, MSE-ers...this poll needs your votes. As it stands, I can't really provide any menaningful statistics as the poll counts are simply too low for any statistics to be considered reliable.

By comparison, we now have 89 votes on the OSPS poll that I created at about the same time.

    cheers,

  • Hi guys
Just to update you I faxed my 6month bill to them and was told I would receive teh cashback in my account by the 27th - it is now the 30th!
I have tried phoning but have had similar results as above - Either the line is disconnected or I get a engaged tone.
ANy ideas guys - has anyone tried email and had a response?

  • This is my first Mobile Rainbow contract and I've not yet reached the first cashback point
have voted before already, so can't do it again...but below's my experience in claiming my first cashback (2nd one to come in a month's time!)

Hi guys, I've just received my first cashback from Mobile Rainbow (MR). Here's how it went down:

    1. sent off claim via recorded delivery
    2. successfully tracked it online
    3. emailed MR regarding receipt of my claim - no response
    4. called MR's freephone number - claim acknowledged; I should receive the money on 3rd August
    5. 3rd August comes and goes, no money...2 emails were sent on 2 separate occasions - no reply
    6. on 14th August, I sent out an email explaining that I hadn't received my cashback and that I may have to take "drastic (ie legal) action" if I didn't receive it ASAP
    7. no reply from MR regarding the above email, but my first cashback was deposited into my account on 16th August.

for new customers of Mobile Rainbow, do take note that their T&Cs have changed considerably since the time I'd signed up (Jan '06)....some changes include: 1) they no longer accept non-original copies of bills 2)you now have 15, instead of the previous 30, days to send your claim in...and these 15 days are calculated from the date ON the BILL.
  • This is my first Mobile Rainbow contract and I've not yet reached the first cashback point
just to add...if you surf on down to their website https://www.mobilerainbow.co.uk you'll get a pop-up stating the technical difficulties they've been having....incidentally these are also the same probs that were brought up in the last couple of pages of this thread:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=147035&page=8
  • None of the above (post details of your situation in the thread)
Having reached my first cashback point, I dutifully sent off the required original bill (taking a copy) and sent it and the voucher to the address supplied by Special Delivery within the correct time frame. That was for the August bill. I have yet to receive anything back.I have checked the delivery. An undecipherable signature of course, though delivered with several others, so at least I'm confident it was the right address. The phone number on their site seems to have a permanent fault on it, I have been trying to contact them since August ( I wanted to confirm the delivery address for the voucher etc.) and although I have now managed to get the contact email address to at least send, there were problems with it and I am not confident that I will get a reply. The word SCAM by legal means is starting to flash in my head and I wonder if anyone has successfully gotten any money back?

hi jayne, i emailed them just literally a few days back and i got a reply within a day....try emailing them again, hopefully their woeful comms problems are behind them
  • I've received disgraceful customer 'service' from Rainbow Mobiles. I signed up to a 12 month contract with 7 months free via cashback in November 2005. I sent the relevant bill back after 6 months and heard nothing for two months. When I chased them I was fed some brilliant lines:

Rainbow Mobiles (RM): What is your home phone number?
    Me: xxxxx xxxxxx
(Long pause while my file was searched for)
Me: Why do you need to know my home number, I only have a mobile with you?
RM: I can't find your number on our system.
Me: Yes, that will because it's changed since I signed up.
    RM: Oh, that's against T&Cs.
    Me: Pardon?
RM: You've broken T&Cs, therefore, you can't get any cashback.
Me: Sorry, come again, I've broken T&C by changing my HOME phone number. You are joking, aren't you?
RM: No, it's against T&Cs. Why did you change your home number?
    Me: Because I've moved house.
RM: Oh, that's against T&Cs as well.
Me: You what? Against T&Cs to move house! (Sarcastic) Sorry, I've also changed my job, is that also against T&Cs?
RM: No, that's not against T&C.
Me: (Tirade of general anger towards RM with regards to their policy. I threatened to write a complaint, get them on Watchdog - the usual stuff).
RM: Sorry sir, but we can't give you any money back.
Me: (More moaining about this crazy policy and poor levels of customer service). Hang up with the promise that is not the last they've heard of me.

Retire to kitchen to contemplate next move. Phone rings in other room. I pick up the phone:

RM: I Mr xxxxxxx, this is xxxxx xxxxxx from RM, the money will be deposited in your account tomorrow.
Me: Thanks, that is a surprise.

    End conversation.

I did receive the money the next day, however, I have since sent my second cashback claim without response (two months ago). I have been trying to contact the good people of RM today on their 0870 and 0800 numbers, to no avail - disconnected apparently. I will post on here if I am successful in getting hold of them.

Moral of the story - if they claim you've broken some crazy term of your contract - like daring to move house - then kick up a stink and demand your money back. OR don't use Rainbow Mobile in the first instance.
  • I've received all cashbacks due with little/no problems
Just to say I have had my second lot of cash back without to much fuss. They were a bit late but I did not bother to hassle them and they still paid me :)

This is false - Mobile Rainbow is a scam. They will not pay. They call and explain that there is a technical fault with payments, then they will send a cheque then....nothing. Then they stop calling - legal action next as they don't answer the phone and ignore emails and web messages - never had a reply from those.
I can only assume they will run this as long as they can get away with it.
