BIG spiders!! No piccies!

You fear them, but you don't have anything like a phobia.
Problem is, when terror kicks in, all rational thought disappears!
I've read some posts where they have ended up inside clothes and I can say for certain, if that happened to me, my clothes would be off! Be it outside, busy place, wherever - they'd be off!!
Now, I would not normally dream of doing any such thing of course, but if I was trying to get away from a spider, mere things like that would cease to exist in my mind.
It's a physical as much as a psychological reaction, and my legs would not allow mwe to tiptoe past a spider! And, even if I did, I would not be able to then go out, as I'd be drenched with sweat and more then likely shaking/crying too. Plus I get so tense, or do such daft things to get away from them, my muscles hurt like crazy after.
I can't describe it - I don't think anyone without an irrational fear of their own could understand what it does to you.
I do see your point though, and I am sure many on here would love to be able to post the things you have, but you are missing the point when you say you are frightened too, but cannot kill them.
^^I agree
OH gets annoyed at me sometimes and says 'I don't like them either but I don't react like you'
As I said to him, there is a BIG difference between not liking them and having a genuine phobia of them.
My body goes into a kind of shock if I see one. I manage to cope with smaller ones, but the ones with the fat bodies scare the jeebies out of me, I just freeze, I couldn't tiptoe past one either.
I was at my inlaws house once and I felt something tickling my leg, I scratched a big and this huge (fat bodied) spider fell out the bottom of my trouser leg. OMG  I screamedand had the presence of mind to run into the hall before pulling my trousers off. :rotfl:Luckily there were none of his buddies still hiding, but OH had to wipe down the inside of my trousers with a cloth because I couldn't stand the thought that one had touched them and left all his 'spider germs' there and I wouldn't put them back on until spider traces were removed
:o:o
I got my own back on OH though.....we went to Austria for our honeymoon and I wanted to go on the cable car....he said he couldn't because he was scared of heights. I gave him a smug 'well, I don't like heights either but that won't put me off *cough* Spiders*' I think he got the message and understood better after thatCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Salted slugs are revolting, I don't recommend it!
I hate the slugs getting all over the rabbit cage, in their bowls etc. (although it's not a fear or phobia, I just hate their sliminess and the way it ruins the bunny food).
I haven't tried it yet but this week I bought some slug tape from betterware. It's copper tape, and the brochure shows it stuck around a plant pot. Apparently they won't crawl over it. I was thinking of covering the bottom of the bunny cage in it, the legs and the edges, not the whole bottom floor of bunny mansion.
I wonder if you could tape it along the path? And does it still work when wet?52% tight0 -

I’ve had hypnotherapy for smoking which worked, I always said I would go back to cure my spider phobia. I never even knew London Zoo did something like this, I will definitely look into it.
It was £110- but well worth it in my opinion. There are details here: http://www.zsl.org/zsl-london-zoo/news/scared-of-spiders,20,NS.html (don't worry, they don't put pics of spiders on the webpage!). The tarantula was pretty cute actually, like holding a little animal! At the end of the day, we got a certificate for picking up a house spider from the table with a glass. Everyone succeeded and there were people far worse than me there!0 -
Also, not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but conkers seem to work in the Autumn- just put them around the house. We had several spiders in one week and then as soon as I put the conkers down we didn't have a single one for the rest of the year.0

I'd love to try the conkers but will have to wait until my 2 toddlers are a bit older  Will definitely give that a go in a few years though.0

OMG! I am so pleased read this thread to see that I'm not alone although at the moment it's freaking me out a bit. I am sat on my bed on my laptop, waiting for my husband to come home from work (another hour or so to go) because a huge spider just ran across my lounge floor and under the sofa. I don't want to see it again, but I also don't like not knowing exactly where it is! I feel really sick and keep thinking I can feel things touching my legs in bed! I'm just hoping DH can find it when he gets home now although I will have to hide when he's finding it. I don't want my daughter who is almost 2 to see my fear but I can't imagine that she wouldn't be scared of such a horrendous looking thing so I figure I should take her to hide with me so she doesn't have to see it. What would you do re young children who have never seen spiders before.
I liked this house as it was new when we moved in and spiders hadn't discovered this area and we have had no problems for the whole 3 years we have lived here but now I want to go and buy a new house again!! Am I the only one who feels the need to put socks on now I know there is a spider in the house just in case it does get near my feet?
What a waste of two hours, especially as I need to go to work in a little while, but I just can't relax now I know it's here. Am going to try to research how to stop them even coming in the house. And how do such big ones get in. I can't imagine there should be any cracks that big anywhere in the house just yet.Current Debt - [strike]£38000[/strike] [strike]£32000[/strike] [strike]£28500[/strike] [strike]£22000[/strike] [strike]£16000[/strike] [strike]£10000[/strike] [STRIKE]£1500[/STRIKE] £14000:eek:0 -

(link from PrincessPlaty - thanks!!)
Does anyone have one of these things? Do they really work? I might look into getting one if they do. As long as it doesn't make the electric bill go through the roof!
Now if this works it's got to be worth every penny
Recommendations anyone???I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

It's having an early night! :rotfl:
Seriously though, it's horrible when they disappear! That is the worst part for me - you just don't know when they will pop back out again!
I'm not helping, am I...?0
