Am also very, very terrified of spiders. i saw one last night on the wall going up the stairs, it was on such a weird angle, i was hyperentilaing and my OH was on nights, why is it you always see them when you are on your own???
Anyway, rang OH he wouldn't come out of work he told me to set the pup on it as she loves them but couldn't as it was high on the wall, short of throwing the pup on the wall i had to leave it. locked me and dog in bedroom putting a pillow at the bottom of the door so it couldn't get in and then stayed awake most of the night listening out for it breaking the door down to come and get me:eek::eek:
My god i keep staring around the house now because they are on my mind
  • Poor Incy wincy!! Having spiders in your home is a good sign that you don't have any damp in your house.
I will pick up spiders but to stop them getting stuck in the bath I tend to hang a towel or toilet tissue over the edge so they can crawl back out again and go and hide.
The OP and other posters on here suggesting to kill the spiders obviously have an irrational fear of these inoffesive creatures.
I'm afraid I don't have any remedies of how to keep the spiders at bay but perhaps you should consider seeking some professional help with your phobia then you will have yourself a much happier spider-fear free life.

I have no fear of spiders at all , and yet my seven year old granddaughter has suddenly developed a real terror of them ,she will not go to bed until we have searched her room will not go to the toilet on her own ,wakes at least twice a night screaming in terror that spiders are in her bed , it has now got to the stage where she will not now go into the garden in case there is a spider about I am baffled as to why she is suddenly so afraid ,she has gone from a child who would pick them up and even had a pet spider to a nervous wreck in about 2 months .

Long live damp houses I say!

Seriously though, I have begun to face my phobia (see post 112) and have to say I'm glad I started this thread as it has helped me decide enough is enough.

If I can just get to a point where I can put them outside (alive), it would transform my life completely. I'll certainly give it my best shot.

Have you asked her about it?

I'd have thought there will be some event, or conversation, that has caused this reaction.

I think it started with ants although I cannot be sure ,there were ants in the kitchen and they had got into the food and from then on she seemed to be afraid of insects in general ,but has become fixed on spiders and is now terrified .

Seriously though, it's horrible when they disappear! That is the worst part for me - you just don't know when they will pop back out again!

    I'm not helping, am I...? :o
    no. not really

although i am currently too drunk to care:rotfl:

You should ask her about it, there must be a reason.

I wasn't scared of spiders until I was 8 and a horrible person pulled a couple of legs off a huge one then shoved it down my back.

I will never forget that squirming/scurrying feeling, and it kicked off my phobia.
