I have a bit of an odd question ladies... could you cycle with a baby in a carrier?

We are off to Center Parcs next month and you may know that you get around either on foot or bike. They have add-ons for the adult bikes for kids but only from 6 months upwards, so we have to walk everywhere with our 3 month old. They can give you a 'Tomy Baby Carrier' though, don't know exactly which kind, but I don't think it would be suitable for use while the adult cycles... am I mad and this is normal, or am I right and it's a bit wierd?

It would be DH carrying him, as I'm not strong enough with a poorly back.

Oh, I'm so hacked off right now!! Just spoken to the carpet bloke - having phoned him myself AGAIN! He's "kinda" found the order but without any of the sizes on it so he needed me to remeasure the hallway yet again. He's now sayng fitted NEXT Thursday.. if he'd done what he promised and looked at the diary LAST Thursday I would have had it this Thursday but now we're waiting another week!

I just want my house back.. SIX MONTHS this has been dragging on for. I'm fed up of always having people here doing something or other, and not having anywhere to store everything so it's all piled in the living room right where I can see it.

I'm going to crawl under a rock somewhere and I'm only coming out at Christmas.. :(
  • Aw Elle, you've done amazing well coping with all the house stuff at the same time as everything else that has been going on. You're nearly there now, please don't go and hide :p:D

I've always been impressed by your putting up with workmen in the house all the time and especially with a baby.

Oh wow, I am so sorry to hear you are all feeling low/upset:(...(((hugs)))

Hugs to fergie and his poorly bottom too...plenty of prunes/prune juice should help;)

Thanks Mel and all fergie's well-wishers :) The bleeding's stopped, but that's mostly cos he hasn't had another poo (again) yet despite the sugar water. Rang the HV, got told we don't really worry until it's been 6 days.

Me: But his bottom's bleeding and a bit of his rectum is hanging out!
HV: If you're concerned, you could see the GP?
    Me: Would you be concerned?
    HV:we don't really worry until it's been 6 days

We got told off for changing Tom on the bed, even though one midwife said I could as I'd had a c-section. Also didn't get shown how to bath him until discharge day when he was 4 days old. I could go on forever complaining about them.

eg. The pads no where near absorbed enough blood and every time I stood up blood pouring everywhere (tmi..sorry). So not to get it on my nightie I'd sit in bed with it around my waist but our bleedin midwives wouldn't let us have the curtains shut so it was a nightmare trying to get out of bed with any dignity. Also had no help getting Tom in and out of his cot...took me ages to sit up and get out of bed after the section. Nightmare!

On the upside...I HAD COTTON WOOL!!! So couldn't get told off for that!;)

JVic sorry you had such bad aftercare, quite a few people have said that about UHW :(

Me too! I intend to have a homebirth next time ideally with an independent midwife. I am also writing a referenced birthplan.

Aww Weezl :( don't be shy of calling surgery and saying you need an emergency appointment because of your baby's bleeding, and protruding parts! So frustrating these people not taking you seriously! Grr!

I don't know about others but given that Alex's arrival wasn't straight forward I'm even more against home births now than I was before  Maybe I'd feel different if we were closer to the hospital here and if my first birth had been trouble free - as it is then next time I know a lot more and will be a LOT more assertive about being admitted and given a MW earlier than I was this time! And I probably got one a lot earlier than most people as it was but the pain was just so bad! Maybe the fact that gas and air and any of the other painkillers they gave me had no effect is clouding my judgement? Or the fact Alex was in distress in the final stage of labour? I know I could never live with myself if anything happened to my baby because I'd decided to have a home birth

As I say - my circumstances probably have clouded my judgement though... :) I just figure that we have a lot of medical expertise in one place and I have every intention of using it if I have another baby! :)
