We were offered a bath for Alex but they were so busy that day (2 days after she was born) that in the end we said the we'd probably work it out so don't worry... There were cheap nappies for the babies at all the beds but I had my own huggies ones with me along with nearly everything else - thanks to the many lists posted on here over the months before Alex arrived! Aaargh - I just did a reply with loads of links and then accidently closed the tab and lost it.
Feelie - I think I used perfumed bubble bath some time before six months but can't remember exactly when as I wasn't paying particular attention (I generally use unperfumed stuff anyway as I don't like the smells).
Random links I found while googling about it:
About newborn's sense of smell:
http://www.childresearch.net/SCIENCE/KOBY/FUTURE/cbse0021.html
Nasty chemicals in baby products:
http://warofillusions.wordpress.com/2009/03/15/corpse-preservative-formaldehyde-and-carcinogenic-dioxane-found-in-over-two-dozen-kids-shampoos/
Baby perfume:
http://mommyofftherecord.blogspot.com/2008/05/johnson-johnson-marketing-toxic-baby.html
This talks about very young babies finding varying scent confucing but a constant artificial smell not being a problem. (And since it specifies very young babies presumably it isn't such an issue for older babies.)

Ok..bottles done (210ml and not 7oz on your advice SB - not constipated but may make the whole transaction smoother so to speak), washing taken off the line with another load ready to go, swimming costume on and bag packed ready to go....love my swimming costume, it's really nice but I look hideous in it. Durham didn't bother showing me anything with Joshua as nobody had any time. I was struggling getting the hang of breastfeeding and needed help but they just ignored me. The girl in the bed next to me was only 15 and couldn't do anything and they were ignoring her, so I ended up showing her how to change a nappy and stuff as I felt sorry for her.It was the community midwife when I came home who helped me breast feed and she left me her mobile number so I could ring anytime for more advice and she offered to pop back anytime. I soon got the hang of it though so didn't need to ring.carlamagee wrote: »i dont think men will EVER understand how difficult it is. they dont think about things that we do everyday cos we know they need done - they just take it for granted thats the way it is!!!! e.g. bottles are ALWAYS sterilised - clothes dont need washed/dried and if they do, they find their way to the appropriate machine themswelves!!!! :mad:Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Amongst many other reasons I find it much easier heating the bottles up to the required temp instead of cooling them down and much less risk of scolding. Plus it's a relief to know that there's no faffing with bottles and kettle etc for a while now I have 6 bottles made up.DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 19017/05/08 - Total on DMP: £10025.7007/05/14 - Total on DMP: £1666.20 DFD: July 2017!!Baby Tomos born 5th June 2009 - 6lb 5oz :jWeight Loss Target - to lose 60.8lb by NYE 2015 - 37.6lb TO GO0
