I rang this morning and spoke to someone after about 15 minutes on hold. I was told that my order was waiting a credit check and they'd get someone to do it straight away. It's still showing as "order received"...

    Hi 888,
Best of luck with the phone call though if you've been following whats been going on in the other threads, your going to need a lot of luck ;)
Keep us posted how you go on !

    Hi Silk,

Right, think l may have some good news, l decided not give Mobiles.co.uk a call in the end and went back to vf to take the hard line approach to show them l mean business, after waiting for 26min l finally go through, and to put a long story short it turns out that l was on a temp number, so they took my PAC and said l will be ported in two days time. They also asked me to turn the phone off during the porting on the day, but just looked at my phone a min ago and l have lost service on vf sim card? My o2 network is still fine though. l wonder if they are going the port today.

    Hi 888,
Well done and full marks for Vodafone ;)
It's pathetic service from mobiles.co.uk and a shame that you've had to sort it out yourself. It takes all the pleasure out of getting a new phone !!!
Lots of lessons being learn't this last week or two ;)

Just to make clear I don't work for, have any product with or any advantages for saying this BUT
By constantly slating a company rep you will acchieve nothing more than to make them fed up with coming on here to try and resolve problems (or if you prefer to think of it as "covering up their mistakes") and thus ending the possibility for people to get their problems resolved through this channel... Not very MSE is it? :)
OK some of you dislike the rep - fair do's I think we all get that... Now maybe it would be an idea to let them get on with "covering up/helping customers/addressing problems" without every thread turning into a mini witch hunt? :)

Just a thought of course... :)

    Mrs Time,
With respect I think that it is the company here that is useless and if you have been following the other thread I'm sure that you will understand this ;)
It is not just the Co. Rep that is at fault as it goes a lot deeper than that.
I'm still waiting for this David to phone me who should have rung at 10.45 well over five and a half hours ago
Also just as a side issue having scoured the forum I cannot find any instance where the rep hasactualy acheived anything for a customer in fact all I can find are broken promises.
The net is full of complaints about the service from this company its not just on here.
I would be gratefull if you can point out the constant slating of the Co. Rep on this thread

    Hi,

Plenty has been sorted out using MSE, which is why I'm keen to keep using the forum.

In your case you had a bad experience with returning a phone (and sent it to the wrong address after refusing to wait or the returns number and instructions to arrive) so it's taking longer to sort out than it should do.

We have been unable to port numbers onto Vodafone for the last 5 days or so, due to a systems problem between Carphone and Vodafone. It's being looked into by Carphone Warehouse and we're removing the option to port onto Voda from our website today.

Unfortunately Vodafone generally refuse to carry out ports post-connection which is what is causing the real problems (although they appear to have done it for you?).

Please PM me if you are still having problems,

    Regards,

Hi Ben, I've ordered a Hero on Vodafone which has now apparently been dispatched. Please can you confirm whether all the functions will work properly e.g. the Facebook integration and the Twitter app?

    Hi,

We think so - we haven't actually used one with a Voda SIM in it but as it's just using the provided data service I don't see why it wouldn't.

Let me know how you get on?

    I don't see why it wouldn't.

People have had trouble because Vodafone blocks certain network ports that are used by these apps. There is a long thread on the XDA Developers forum about it.

I was hoping that when you said Vodafone had approved the Hero that these things had been fixed.

    Hmmm...

The Hero is approved for connection to Vodafone (by Vodafone) so they should be supporting it, it looks like they're not doing so very well.

Because the handsets we supply are unlocked, generic stock they don't always come with full settings, but usually an OTA update or Voda's website will sort this out; there's some APN setttings listed on that XDA-Dev thread, maybe try those?

Unfortunately I can't offer much more help,
